Chapter 317 The Deadly Botanicals
Isabella had previously renovated the rooms inside Summit Manor into specialized labs to meet her multifaceted research needs.
While she calibrated her analyzers to deconstruct the micro–particulates, Julian acted swiftly to commission independent labs for Raymond’s testing.
Given the sheer volume of daily panels drawn for the elder, skimming a few vials for off–site screening was effortless.
Julian accomplished the transfer discreetly without raising a single eyebrow among the hospital staff.
Yet when the initial lab panels came back, the diagnostic report showed no evidence of chemical poisoning.
“How could that be? Clean of all toxins?”
Julian’s voice dropped into a dark register as he listened to the toxicologist on the line.
The lab director confirmed the blood sample cleared standard toxicity screens without a single flagged compound.
It appeared to be ordinary blood from an elderly patient.
Hearing that, Julian’s instincts told him the puzzle was far from solved.
Hesitating for a heartbeat, he pressed, “If we cross–reference every known neurotoxin capable of inducing cardiogenic shock, were any specialized markers left out?”
The director paused on the other end, shuffling through diagnostic reference sheets before replying in mild surprise, “There are a few rare toxins we cannot screen for locally–they require specialized federal forensic labs. Are you asking us to screen every potential cardiac disruptor?”
“Yes.”
Julian’s tone was deadpan and resolute.
Better to test every lead than miss the truth.
Since Isabella had flagged the danger and her logic was ironclad, Julian refused to leave any stone unturned.
If the results returned clean, they would gladly accept that they had misjudged the Kellers.
But if toxins are found…
Julian’s jaw hardened with cold fury.
He would wage war against the Keller family until the bitter end.
“Understood.”
The lab director considered the request and replied, “In that case, I will expand the screening parameters for you.”
