“Priscilla,” Nick said hesitantly beside me, “the official reward list isn’t out yet. Shouldn’t we wait? And our funds-we already spent almost everything raising war money for the alpha.”
“Wait for what?” I shot her a glare. “Of course the list will have our Alpha and Luna on it. Do we even need to guess? The last wedding was embarrassing enough. This time, we must throw an even bigger victory banquet! As for money…”
I clenched my teeth. “Sell the former alpha’s Silverfang Medal in my room. Sell those oil paintings too. When Evelyn comes back, the rewards will be generous. This little bit of money is nothing. This is called an investment.”
Nick tried to say something again, but I cut her off impatiently. “You don’t get it. This is boldness! Ever since that jinx left, our pack has been a joke. This time, I’m taking our pride back! I’ll hire the best singers, serve the finest wine, and send invitations to every major pack. Especially Gorefang Pack and Frostclaw Pack-the ones who always looked down on us. Invite them all!”
I could already see it in my mind.
I would sit at the head table, praised by everyone.
Evelyn, wearing the golden armor gifted by King Ryken, would bow to me with respect.
Those proud noble ladies would rush to flatter me.
The rush of vanity made my scalp tingle. I lost all sense.
For the next three days, the whole pack went into a frenzy.
I even took out high-interest loans to rebuild the garden and set up a grand stage.
Invitations were delivered to every pack’s alpha and Luna across the kingdom.
The whole city knew it now; Duskfang Pack’s Luna had made great contributions and was about to receive a noble title!
Some people whispered in private, asking why there was no news of Cindy.
“Hmph, that bitch?” I scoffed at the guests. “She’s probably hiding somewhere, crying her eyes
out.”
At last, the day of the victory banquet arrived.
Dressed in a lavish gown, I sat in my seat and waited for the guests to come pay
But as time passed, the smile on my face slowly stiffened.
their respects.

Chapter 113 The Victory Banquet
By midday, the feast had begun.
Yet when I looked around the hall, my heart felt like it had been doused with cold water.
Who were these people?

On my left sat the gang leader of the Venom Gang, a newly rich man who made his money through shady trades.
On my right were leaders of a few fallen minor packs, people who normally wouldn’t even be worthy of standing near me.
There were also some poor hangers-on, here just for free food and drink.
Where were the people I invited?
The noble ladies from the Royal Court? Not here.
The daughter of the chief of the Royal Council? Not here.
The Luna of Gorefang Pack? She didn’t even send a reply!
“What’s going on?” I whispered harshly to the beta in charge of greeting guests, my nails digging into the armrest. “I sent out hundreds of invitations! Where are the important people?”
The beta was drenched in sweat. “Mrs. Priscilla… Hmm… Gorefang Pack’s Luna replied she’s unwell today. The others… they all found excuses.”
“Excuses! All excuses!” I trembled with anger.
A bunch of shallow snobs! They must be jealous of Evelyn’s achievements!
Just then, a loud, cheerful laugh came from the doorway.
“Hahaha! Priscilla, this victory banquet of yours is really lively!”
I looked up, and my face darkened at once,
It was Angus Nolan, the third elder.
He was my late husband’s younger brother, someone who never got along with me. He had always opposed James and Evelyn, and he was firmly against driving Cindy away.
