“Because of the dead vampire prince,” Cindy said bluntly. “Eric was not only Franklin’s nephew. He was also the Seventh Blood Prince of the royal line. His death shattered the balance inside the vampire court.”
“Sharp,” I said, nodding in approval. “Our intelligence says the Vampire Emperor is about to enter hibernation. The seven heirs have been fighting each other for the throne for years. Franklin may be a Blood Prince, but he has no right to inherit. The one he backed-Eric-died here. That means Franklin’s political leverage back home dropped to zero overnight.”
I walked to the map and drew a line across it. “Franklin had to return at once. Not to run away, but to limit his losses. If he doesn’t bring his army back to support another Blood Prince, his faction will be swallowed by rival factions. Evelyn’s foolish brutality may have started this war, but it also forced Franklin to retreat just to survive.”
“Isn’t it ironic?” I looked at Cindy. “A massacre driven by personal greed ends because of a power struggle.”
Cindy was silent for a moment. Then she gave a cold, mocking smile. “There is no such thing as a pure war. War is just power wearing armor. My people were simply the pieces sacrificed in that game.”
When she mentioned the Silverpeak Pack, my chest tightened.

“Your Highness, thank you for your trust,” Cindy said with a slight bow. Her manners were perfect, but her distance was clear. “Still, I hope this honor can be exchanged for a hundred years of peace in Southreach.”
I looked at her beautiful face, and emotions I couldn’t control rose inside me.
Over the past year, I had watched her rise step by step, from a woman cast aside to a grand marshal who made enemies tremble.
Her strength. Her mind. Even her cold resolve. All of it drew me in.
Yet in the end, I still lacked the courage to take that final step,
Priscilla’s POV:
The wind in the capital always carried the scent of luxury.
I sat in the main house, listening to the news brought back by a beta. At last, the worry in my heart eased and was quickly replaced by wild joy.
“What did you say?” I jumped to my feet. “Say it again!”
“Mrs. Priscilla, wonderful news!” The beta shouted, his face glowing with excitement. “Victory from Southreach! Our army broke through Bloodmoor Castle! That female general led the charge herself and

crushed the main vampire forces! The streets are buzzing; people claim the Valkyrie has returned and saved Southreach!”
“Female general…” I repeated, smiling wide. “That must be Evelyn! My granddaughter-in-law! I knew she would amount to something!”
Who else could it be but Evelyn?
“I knew it! I knew this move was right!”
