She let out a wild, beast-like roar. Her body swelled at once. Bones in her face cracked and shifted as she slipped into a half-wolf form.
Sharp claws tore through her sleeves, and she shot forward like a cannonball, straight toward Hannah.
Smack! Smack!
Two loud slaps sent Hannah flying backward. Hannah crashed into a bookshelf, sending books scattering across the floor.
“You hit me?!” Hannah clutched her burning cheek. Her eyes flashed with rage.
She was a Beta, and her instincts had been fully provoked.
“Awooo-!”
With a howl, Hannah transformed on the spot. In seconds, she became a gray-brown she-wolf. She lunged forward, jaws wide, snapping at Evelyn’s leg.
The two women-no, the wolves-tore each other apart in the living room.
There was no skill or form left. Only raw biting and clawing.
Expensive hardwood furniture shattered under their bodies. Vases smashed. The rug was quickly covered in fur and blood.
“Stop it! Both of you! Stop!”
I rushed in, trying to pull them apart, but they had completely lost control.
Evelyn pinned Hannah down and slashed wildly with her claws. As she struck, she screamed in a hoarse, unhinged shriek, “You bunch of snobs! When I was powerful, you flattered me like a bunch of lapdogs! Now that I’ve fallen, you want to stomp me into the dirt? From top to bottom, this pack is nothing but a pack of hyenas!”
“That’s enough!”
Her words pushed me past my limit. My Alpha instincts/surged. I grabbed Evelyn by the scruff of her neck and drove a hard punch into her.
The blow landed hard. She stumbled back, blood spilling from the corner of her mouth.
Evelyn stared at me in disbelief. The madness in her eyes collapsed into pure, bitter hatred.
“James, you hit me? You hit me for that bitch?”
