Priscilla’s POV:
The Duskfang Pack fell into panic like never before.

The werewolf doctor rushed out of the emergency room, sweat pouring down his forehead. He pulled off his mask and shook his head. “Mrs. Priscilla,” he said heavily, “Black is in critical condition. He’s too old. His healing factor is almost gone. He has a skull fracture pressing on his nerves. If we don’t perform a high-precision brain repair surgery right away, he may not survive the night.”
“Then do it!” I shouted, stamping my foot in panic.
“I can’t,” the doctor said helplessly, spreading his hands. “That kind of surgery can only be done by one person in the entire kingdom-the hidden werewolf doctor, Rupert.”
Rupert again?
The moment I heard his name, my heart sank.
When Cindy severed her bond with James, Rupert had publicly mocked our pack for being blind fools. He even announced that he would never treat anyone from our pack again.
“What do we do? What do we do now?” I paced back
forth in panic
Robert was the most respected elder in the pack. He could not die here, especially not because of Luna’s mistakes.
“Go find Cindy!” I said suddenly, like I had grabbed on to the last hope. “As long as Cindy asks, Rupert will show her respect!”
I turned to Hannah, who was sitting nearby, licking her wounds. “Hannah, go find Elder Cohen,” I said quickly. “He’s one of the few elders who can still talk to Cindy. He treated Cindy well in the past. Let him
and ask Cindy for help. That girl remembers kindness. She’ll agree.”

Hannah didn’t want to go, but the situation scared her too much fuse. Covering her swollen face, she
hurried off to Nick’s place.
Half an hour later, Hannah ran back, crying.
“Grandma, Elder Cohen scolded me too!” She sobbed. “He said we deserve this! He said when Cindy was still here, we treated her like a servant and spent her money without shame. Now that something went wrong, how dare we go beg her? He said he was too embarrassed to do it and told us to handle it ourselves!”
“That old fart!” I snapped, nearly fainting from anger. “Ile eats and drinks from this family every day, but when it matters, he sides with outsiders!”
Since Nick was no help, I had no choice but to try something else.
“Prepare the carriage. We’re going to the palace,” I said th

doubt that when King puts pressure on Rupert, he could refuse to save a life.”
Just as I was about to leave, a tall figure blocked the doorway.
It was James.

He had changed into plain clothes. His face was pale as paper, and his eyes were empty and dead.
“No one is leaving,” he said coldly.
“James! Are you out of your mind?” I yelled. “Elder Black is dying!”
“If he dies, he dies,” James replied flatly. His voice was so cold that it scared me. “Evelyn caused this. What does it have to do with Cindy? What right do you have to go ask her?”
“You-” I stared at my grandson in shock, like I didn’t know him anymore.
“Haven’t you caused enough trouble?” James looked around at his family, disgust filling his eyes. “Because of Evelyn, my future is ruined. Because of your greed, we’ve become a joke across the whole kingdom. And now you want to throw away the last bit of dignity we have, just so others can step on it?”
“If we don’t beg Cindy, what about Elder Black?” Hannah screamed. “Are we just supposed to watch him die?”
“Then let him die,” James said. He turned his back on us, his posture firm and lonely. “This is karma. It’s the punishment for our betrayal and endless greed.”
With that, he turned and walked straight back to his room, locking the door behind him.
No matter how hard we knocked, he never answered again.
