Chapter 15 The Final Showdown

Priscilla’s POV:

When Cindy casually mentioned signing a loan contract, it was like dumping a bucket of ice water over the spark of hope I’d just felt. Shock and a slow–burning rage took over.

How dare she?! A woman on the verge of being cast aside by my own grandson, standing there and threatening the matriarch of the Dusk ang Pack?

I almost lost my composure, my wolf spirit clawing to break free and put her in her place.

But I held back. Now wasn’t the moment for a fight; the ceremony still depended on her money to keep up appearances.

I swallowed my anger and forced a calm smile. “Cindy, we’re family. Why make things so cold between us? Helping the pack is also building your own standing. Evelyn is favored by the Royal Court. When she becomes Luna, you’ll need to stay on her good side if you want to have a comfortable life in the pack. Pitching in for her ceremony today is just a step toward that. What’s the harm?”

I thought that would soften her.

But Cindy wasn’t having it. She shot me a sharp look. “Priscilla, there’s no chance I’ll make peace with her.”

My smile froze, hurt and surprise twisting inside me.

“Cindy! That’s going too far!” Hannah slammed her hand on the table and stood, pointing at Cindy as she snapped, “What’s with that attitude You don’t help the pack and you’re disrespectful to Grandma? What are you trying to start, a rebellion?!”

The room instantly tensed, the other women shooting hostile glares at Cindy.

But Cindy didn’t back down. She rose slowly, eyes as cold as ice, gliding first over Hannah before landing mockingly on me. “Rebellion?” she said with a sharp sneer. “Let me ask you: Where’s the honor of the Duskfang Pack if you just take the pack females‘ personal inheritances without even a proper contract? You want to use my inheritance from the Silverpeak Pack to pave the way for James’s new partner–aren’t you scared the whole pack will become a joke?”

I saw that Cindy’s words shook the others, cracks appearing in their once–confident faces.

What fools! They wanted money but were unwilling to lose face!

I forced a smile. “Cindy, the ceremony is right around the corner. Guests like your father’s
