The moment I declared that Rupert wouldn’t be coming, silence swept through Serene Residence like a heavy fog.

Every pair of eyes locked onto mesome filled with shock, others with doubt. In Priscilla’s gaze, I saw a turbulent storm of anger and fear raging beneath the surface.

Whwhat did you just say? Rupert’s not coming!Hannah was the first to lose it. She stormed toward me, her face twisted with fury as she shouted, Cindy! This is on you, isn’t it? What scheme did you pull to stop him from treating Grandma? You’re poison! If anything happens to her, I swear I’ll make you pay! You cruel snake, a parasite!

Her voice cracked with rage as she lunged, swinging her hand hard in my direction!

Diana!

In that instant, all the anger, humiliation, and bitterness I’d been holding back exploded. I stopped resisting the Alpha blood rushing inside me; my wolf spirit, Diana, awakened fully, roaring in harmony with my will.

Just before her hand connected, I struck back fiercely! An unseen force, charged with Alpha wolf power, shot out like a shockwave, crashing into her with ruthless power!

Ah!

Hannah screamed, flying backward like a kite with a snapped string, slamming heavily to the floor and struggling to rise for several tense seconds.

The wolves in the room stood frozen, mouths agape. They had never expected me, who was usually quiet and meek, to unleash such a powerful Alpha presence. Their eyes shifted from contempt to pure astonishment, some even showing a flicker of fear.

I stood there coldly, my Alpha aura radiating strongly, my gaze sweeping over each stunned female wolf before finally resting on Priscilla’s shadowed face.

Rupert’s choice has nothing to do with me,I said, my voice sharp as ice. If you want answers, ask him yourselves. As for me

Without hesitation, I turned and walked away, leaving the stunned silence and chaos swirling behind me like dust carried on the wind.

Cindy, you heartless wretch! You’ll get what’s coming to you!Priscilla’s furious curse rang out behind me, but inside, I felt as still and quiet as a stagnant pond.

Heartless? If they hadn’t pushed me to the edge with their greed and pressure, would I have become like this?

Cindy’s POV:

Back at Moonwhisper Residence, my thoughts wouldn’t settle.

The confrontation at Serene Residence had drained almost all my energy, yet strangely, I felt an unfamiliar sense of relief.

Years of bottledup pressure seemed to vanish like smoke carried away on the breeze.

Ms. Cindy, are you okay?Jewel approached, holding out a cup of warm honey water. Her eyes showed concern mixed with a quiet excitement. She was clearly comforted by seeing me stand strong.

I’m fine.I accepted the cup and took a small sip, my eyes drifting to the carefully stacked boxes Jewel had arrangedSilverpeak Pack’s last remaining legacy, my only hope for the future.

From a finely carved wooden box etched with wolf designs, Jewel carefully lifted out something wrapped in thick cloth.

Slowly, she peeled back the fabric to reveal a pair of pure black claw gloves, their cold metal shimmering faintly. The blades were razorsharp, looking like they could cut through anything.

Ms. Cindy, what Jewel hesitated.

I stared at the gloves, a rush of feelings swirling inside me.

These were a gift from Elder Selvaryn when I graduated from Moonridge Heights Wolf Martial Academy,I said quietly, my fingers brushing the icy metal. They’re called Soul Breakerforged from Arctic Iron and the claws of Moonshade Beasts. They’re incredibly sharp, and they enhance wolf power.”

These gloves symbolized my proudest moments back when I was one of the fiercest and most skilled students the academy had seen in a hundred years.

I used to believe I’d wear them on the battlefield just like my father and brothers, protecting Northmere.

But for the sake of socalled love and family, I had locked them away, along with my fighting skills.

Diana, did we take the wrong road?I whispered
