Chapter 151 His Name

Cindy’s POV:

“Adam,” I said. His name felt unfamiliar on my tongue.

“Mmm.” The sound he made was unmistakably satisfied, and I could practically picture a wolf’s tail swishing behind him. “That’s better. We’re supposed to spend the rest of our lives together, so calling me ‘Your Highness’ all the time is stiff as hell. If we’re acting, we commit fully. No weak spots for anyone to poke at, right?”

I knew he was hiding behind the excuse of appearances, but I couldn’t deny that speaking his name made the idea of us as mates suddenly feel tangible instead of theoretical.

The atmosphere subtly changed, tension humming low and quiet between us.

Outside, streetlamps flickered on one after another, light gliding across the sharp lines of his face.

Our conversation drifted to his mother.

“Your mother… she’s definitely intense,” I said carefully. “It’s like she exists at the center of the universe and expects everyone else to revolve around her. I brought up my father and brother today; it rattled her. I doubt she’ll want to see me anytime soon.”

“She’s just pampered.” Prince Adam snorted, lounging back without a care. One long leg stretched out, nearly brushing mine. “Born noble, crowned Queen by marrying my father… She’s never known hardship, never smelled blood. She’s not malicious, just foolish. Which makes her useful. If she gives you trouble again, hit back like you did today. Don’t worry about my reputation.”

“You’re sure?” I arched a brow.

“Completely.” He shrugged. “I wouldn’t mind watching her fall flat. And I trust you; your control’s good. You won’t actually hurt her.”

We exchanged a glance, then laughed.

In that moment, it struck me how approachable this so-called strongest prince really was.

No false politeness, no royal façade, just blunt honesty that made breathing around him easy.

I was about to continue, maybe ask about wedding arrangements, when the carriage jolted and abruptly stopped.

“We’ve arrived!”

Chase’s booming voice rang from the front. “Your Grace’s manor! Safe arrival! Travel time is twelve minutes!”

I blinked.

Peering out the window, I saw the familiar manor gates waiting right outside.

We’d been so absorbed in talking that time slipped past unnoticed. It felt like only moments had gone by.

I turned toward Prince Adam.

His expression had darkened to something nearly scorched.

“Twelve minutes?” he said slowly, teeth clenched. “Who told you to drive like that?”

“Huh?” Chase scratched his head, confused. “Your Highness, you’re always complaining I’m too slow. I figured Your Grace just left the palace and needed rest, so I took a shortcut to get you home faster…

Adam inhaled deeply and closed his eyes.
