Unhurried, I turned my gaze toward Priscilla of Duskfang Pack, who was lurking behind the crowd, staring at me with open hatred.
“My lady,” I said evenly, “people can eat whatever they like, but words shouldn’t be thrown around carelessly. I sympathize with Priscilla’s illness. But I am not a physician. I cannot cure disease. As for why I didn’t help summon Dr. Rupert…”
I paused deliberately, my eyes sharpening. “Dr. Rupert’s report states very clearly that Priscilla’s condition is a sickness of the heart. The root cause is a lack of virtue. That sort of illness cannot be treated with physical intervention. It requires moral repair and good deeds. If I were to force the doctor’s hand, would that not be questioning Professor Rupert’s professional judgment?”
“You are lying,” Lily shrieked. “You are cold-blooded and heartless. I will tear your mouth apart.”
Emboldened by the fact that this was her territory, she actually raised her hand to strike me.
In that instant, my Alpha presence surged outward.
O
The killing intent forged on the battlefield was nothing a pampered young lady like Lily had ever faced.
I merely looked at her.
Her hand froze in midair. She stood frozen, as if a massive beast had locked eyes with her, trembling so violently she couldn’t move.
“My lady,” I said, taking a single step forward, “there is something else you should understand. I wasn’t cast out as a discarded mate. I am a free woman who severed the bond by royal decree from His Majesty of Ryken. If anyone dares to spread rumors again, do not blame my blade for lacking mercy.”
Queen Isabella’s POV:
I stood some distance away, a glass of red wine in my hand, fully prepared to watch Cindy embarrass herself.
After all, she had taken my son from me.
Yet at this moment, watching Lily, who usually strutted about without regard for anyone, even me, turn pale and shake under Cindy’s words, I felt an unexpected surge of satisfaction.
Was this what it meant when one villain met another?
“Hmph.” I let out a quiet snort, lifting my wineglass to liide the trace of schadenfreude at my lips. “Sharp tongue. But… well done.”
Cindy’s POV:
Shaken by my presence, Lily retreated to the side in disgrace.

At last, the true centerpiece of the evening could no longer sit still.

Princess Margaret rose from her elevated throne, her eyes, identical to Lily’s in their malice, fixed on me.
“What a sharp tongue you have,” Princess Margaret said with a smile that never reached her eyes. “The Duchess of Silverpeak Pack honors my humble banquet with her presence. Come. Present the Duchess’s. gift, and let me see it for myself.”
Since things had reached this point, there was no reason to pretend any longer.
I took the long, narrow box from Julian and walked up the steps one by one.
“Your Highness,” I said, stopping three meters away from her. “Though you have long harbored ill will toward me, Silverpeak Pack has always observed proper courtesy. This gift was chosen with care.”
Princess Margaret gave a cold snort. “You dare invoke Silverpeak Pack? If your dead father could see the way you behave now, he would probably claw his way out of the grave in fury.”
The moment she mentioned my father, fire surged through my chest.
Even Diana, who already despised this woman, let out a dangerous low growl. “Cindy, do we speak of what happened back then?”
“Your Highness,” I said, meeting Princess Margaret’s gaze directly, my voice turning glacial. “My father rests peacefully. But you, after all these years, have you still not let go of that unrequited obsession?”
An uproar swept through the hall.
No one had expected me to tear open Princess Margaret’s old wound in public.
Her expression twisted. “Hold your tongue.”
“What? You dare do it but not admit it?” I raised my voice, no longer intending to spare the kingdom’s Grand Princess any dignity. “Back then, my father and brothers all died on the southern frontier defending the realm. Before their bodies had even grown cold, you, the exalted Grand Princess, went to my father’s grave and, in front of the caretaker, urinated on his tombstone.”
