Leaving that ballroom full of fake perfumes and mean looks, I felt like I could finally breathe again.
The night breeze outside was slightly cool, blowing away that sickly-sweet pheromone scent clinging to
“Get in.”
Adam stood beside the low-key yet luxurious black car and opened the door for me.
He had already taken off his coat and was just wearing a white shirt. The top two buttons were open, showing his collarbone.
For some reason, even in that tense environment earlier, as long as he was waiting for me in the front hall, I felt strangely safe.
It was like being on a battlefield and knowing you could trust your partner to have your back.
“Are you hungry?” Adam asked as he sat down in the car and turned to look at me.
“Yes.” I nodded honestly, and my stomach cooperated by letting out a very loud growl.
Chase, who was driving in the front, burst out laughing. Adam shot him a sharp look, and he immediately straightened up, sitting upright as if he were piloting a fighter jet.
“Arguing takes a lot of energy.” I rubbed my stomach and sighed. “Especially when you have to constantly hold back your killing intent and not rip that old witch apart on the spot. It’s more exhausting than running five kilometers with full gear.”
Adam let out a light laugh, his eyes full of affection. “Then let’s go eat. I know a very good private restaurant at the Golden Lion Hotel nearby. It’s owned by the royal family, so it’s quiet and no one will bother us.”
“Your Grace,” Jewel, who had been following us, whispered a reminder. “It’s so late. Is it really okay for a man and a woman to go to a hotel alone? If people find out…
“What’s there to be afraid of?” I raised an eyebrow. “The whole city already knows I’m going to marry him. Besides, I’m starving. Nothing is more important than food.
Jewel was helpless and could only follow Chase to the servants’ dining area next door, leaving the space to the two of us.
The top-floor private room of the hotel had an excellent view, overlooking the entire capital at night.
We sat across from each other, and the waiter handed us the menus.
“What do you want to eat?” Adam pushed the menu toward me. “Since we’re celebrating your total victory, you order tonight.”

I opened the menu. Looking at the pictures of the fancy food made me even hungrier.

But out of politeness, I still looked up and asked Adam, “What kind of flavors do you like? Light or strong?”
Adam blinked. “Spicy! I love spicy food!”
I was surprised. “You can handle spicy food?”
Adam paused for a second, then straightened his back and gave a confident, charming smile. “Of course. I’m an alpha. My taste buds are as strong as my will. It won’t taste good if it’s not spicy.”
I looked at him with doubt. “Really? I remember the royal family’s diet is usually light and healthy.”
“That’s how the old men eat,” Adam lied without blinking. “The younger ones should eat something exciting. Just order what you like, and we can add a few vegetable dishes.”
