Chapter 211 Where Astra Should Live
Cindy’s POV:

When I woke up in the guest room the next morning, the courtyard was already piled high with goods.
They had all been sent overnight by the Kazeks.
Crates of tonics, rare medicinal herbs, and several sets of small clothes and shoes, all hastily tailored through the night.
Roger had even ordered someone to bring out a pristine white tiger pelt from the storeroom, saying it would be best for Astra’s bones if it were laid on his bed.
After breakfast, everyone gathered in the main hall.
The air still carried traces of grief, but what weighed heavier now was the sober gravity of planning for the future.
“Cindy,” Roger said at last. He glanced at Astra beside me, who was quietly drinking his porridge, then hesitated before speaking. “Now that Astra is back, his treatment and recovery are what matter most.
“Our home may not be as grand as the ducal estate,” he continued, rubbing his hands together, his gaze flickering slightly, “but we have people. We can take meticulous care of him.
“And… your marriage to Prince Adam is drawing near,” he added more cautiously. “His Highness is a good man, but it is still the royal family. A prince’s household. Bringing your nephew to live there might not be convenient. And with treatment involved, the blood and medicine… they may not welcome it.”
“So Fiona and I talked it over,” Roger said quietly. “Why not let Astra stay with us to recover? We will love him like our own son.”
I set down my cutlery.
I understood Roger’s kindness.
He was worried Astra might be wronged in Prince Adam’s household. Living under another’s roof was
never easy.
And in werewolf society, even cubs brought by a mate, if not born of the bloodline, often faced instinctive rejection.
“Roger,” I began, preparing to explain.
“No.”
The voice that cut through the room was old, yet unwavering.
Maya straightened in her seat with the help of two maids.
Though her vision was nearly gone, the authority of the matriarch had not diminished in the slightest.

Chapter 211 Where Astra Should Live
“Grandmother?” Roger froze.
“Astra cannot stay with the Kazeks,” Maya said, striking her cane firmly against the floor. “He must stay with Cindy. And in the future, he must live in Prince Adam’s household.”
“Why?” Roger blurted out. “We are not incapable of caring for him. Why send the child to suffer there?”
“Foolish!” Maya snapped.
She turned her head, her clouded eyes seeming to pierce through the haze and settle squarely on Astra.
“Roger, have you forgotten who Astra is?” she said sharply. “He is not merely your nephew. He is the only surviving male of Silverpeak Pack. He is the future Duke of Silverpeak.
“A future alpha raised in our gentle nest,” she continued, her voice rising, “in the home of a family that can only be called a declining noble house, what kind of vision will he have? What kind of reach, what kind of connections?”
Her voice grew impassioned. “Who is Prince Adam? He is the Crown Prince. First in line to the throne. At his side, Astra will walk among the highest circles of the Royal Court. He will meet the great powers of the realm. He will learn how to govern, how to lead a pack, and how to command a nation!
“If Cindy can take him with her into that marriage, it means Prince Adam has already given his tacit consent,” Maya said firmly. “That is not merely kindness. It is an overwhelming opportunity.
“Only by standing on a giant’s shoulders can Astra truly uphold the name of Silverpeak Pack,” she concluded. “Only then will he not fail the ancestors who came before him.”
Silence fell over the hall.
My heart trembled. I had not expected such foresight, such piercing clarity, from a woman long confined indoors.
“This old wolf is formidable,” Diana remarked with admiration. “That is the wisdom of age. For the cub’s future, she is willing to endure the pain of pushing him into a wider, more dangerous, yet far more promising world. That is true love.”
