I rose to my feet and gave Maya a deep bow. “Wise judgement. Prince Adam has indeed promised me that he will raise Astra as his own and hire the finest tutors for him. And also…”
I looked at Astra and said firmly, “My title will one day pass to him as well. He must learn how to be a duke.”
Maya lifted a hand and beckoned. “Astra, come here.”
Astra set down his food and limped toward her.
Maya reached out, took hold of his thin shoulders, and applied just a little pressure.
“Hey, listen carefully.”
Her voice turned stern and solemn. “You were dealt a hard fate and suffered greatly. But you were also spared. The heavens did not extinguish your light. Your grandfather, your father, your uncles-every one of them was a hero who stood tall between heaven and earth. Their blood flows in you.
“I do not ask that you become some legendary hero, nor do I demand that you surpass your forebears. But you must give it your all.
“If you give it your all, then even if you fail in the end, even if you live an ordinary life, no one will blame you. The Kazeks will support you for the rest of your days. But if you abandon yourself, if you shrink back because you think you are broken, you will be too ashamed to meet your parents when you die.”
Astra’s body jolted.
He lifted his head. In those silver-gray eyes, the shame and timidity slowly faded, replaced by a newly kindled spark called responsibility.
He nodded hard.
His lips moved silently, forming a single word: Understood.
Only then did Maya smile. She pulled him into her arms, her voice softening. “Good boy. Don’t be afraid. No matter how high you fly, or how badly you fall, remember this, the Kazeks will always stand behind you. If anyone dares bully you, I will destroy them, even if it costs this old life.”
That night, the Kazeks hosted a grand family banquet.
Though no outside guests were invited, hundreds of clan members attended.
Maya was in high spirits and broke precedent by drinking a small cup of wine.
After the meal, Astra and I prepared to leave.
But Maya called for all her descendants to stay.

Just as we were about to step out the doors, I heard her sharp, commanding voice behind us once more.
“Hear me well, all of you! Cindy is to hold a bonding ceremony with Prince Adam. This is a major event for our family. From this day forward, Kazek Manor will no longer hide behind closed doors! Roger, go re- establish our old connections. Son, see to the finest ceremonial items and prepare a proper gift for Astra.
