Chapter 213 This Will Be a Grand Wedding
Cindy’s POV:
The next day, at the ducal estate.
Care from the Kazeks came crashing down like a tidal wave.

Early that morning, the steward delivered two large containers filled with all the pastries Astra loved as a child. There was even fresh game that Roger had ordered hunted in the mountains outside the city.
Astra sat by the window, eating a piece of chocolate cake, his brows finally relaxed with a softness fitting for
a child.
The shadow of “being unwanted” had completely vanished.
“Dr. Rupert has arrived.”
Rupert was as decisive and efficient as ever.
This time, his examination was exceptionally thorough. He even used an unfamiliar device to measure Astra’s bone density.
“He’s recovering better than I expected,” Rupert said as he put away his stethoscope, visibly relieved. “Once the heart settles, the body heals faster. That’s the nature of our kind-emotions directly affect physical function.
“At this pace, another month of recovery will be enough to prepare for vocal cord reconstruction surgery.”
Not long after Rupert left, Jewel entered to report, “Ms. Spencer, Prince Adam has arrived.”
I went out to greet him and saw Prince Adam in plain clothes, followed by a burly man with a thick build and a fierce face.
The man carried an oil-paper parcel that smelled irresistible.
Prince Adam introduced him. “This is Chase. His barbecue is unmatched. We had nothing scheduled today, so I brought him along to improve Astra’s meals.”
Chase grinned, flashing a mouthful of white teeth. He looked a bit simple, but his eyes were sharp.
“Greetings, Duke Silverpeak. Greetings, Mr. Astra,” Chase said with a military salute, then opened the parcel. Inside was a slab of honey-glazed venison that was sizzling with fat.
Astra’s eyes lit up.
I glanced at Prince Adam in surprise. Earlier, Lisa had slipped Astra some honeyed meat, and I had only remembered after feeding it to him in the carriage home.
It seemed Prince Adam had noticed and remembered.

Prince Adam walked over. Instead of looming over Astra like most adults, he sat directly on the floor across from him, lowering his gaze to eye level.
“Want to try some?” Prince Adam said with a smile. “This is what I missed most in Southreach. Chase’s cooking rivals the royal kitchens.”
Astra glanced at me. When I nodded, he carefully tore off a small piece and placed it in his mouth.
The next second, his eyes narrowed in bliss.
Then he did something completely unexpected.
He lifted the remaining large piece of meat toward Prince Adam’s mouth.
Prince Adam froze, then burst out laughing.
He leaned in without hesitation, bit into the meat, chewed loudly, and praised, “Good lad! Loyal and generous! Meat shared is the rule of the pack!”
After the meal, Prince Adam taught Astra how to press his strength into writing letters on the map table. The sight of one big and one small figure together was unexpectedly harmonious.
After a while, Prince Adam signaled Chase to stay and play with Astra, while he and I walked to the stone table in the courtyard.
“I heard about the Kazeks” Prince Adam said softly. “Roger may be ill-tempered, but he values loyalty deeply. Seeing you untangle this knot puts me at ease.”
I nodded. “Yes. Maya is very clear-headed.”
Then I changed the subject. “How are things with the Academy? Dean Dross…”
“All settled,” Prince Adam said with a sly smile. “The old man tried to keep his distance, claiming the academy stays out of politics. But when I changed my tone, he caved. Turns out he also has some royal blood. By generation, I should call him Uncle.
“He agreed to notify the other alumni. When the time comes, not only the court nobles but also your old classmates from the academy will attend. This will be a grand wedding.”
At the word “wedding,” warmth crept up my cheeks.
When I entered my first bond, it felt like obedience to fate, so I was calm and unmoved.
But now, imagining forming a bond with Prince Adam before all eyes, I felt an unexpected mix of anticipation and nervousness.
Our gazes met in the air, and something thick and lingering seemed to stretch between us…
