Chapter 224 A Blood Oath Between Men
Prince Adam’s POV:
Crack!
The sharp snap of bone echoed. The sensation traveled from my fingers through my entire body.
Time froze.
Astra’s smile hadn’t even faded before his face started to stiffen.
Then, immediately, a tidal wave of pain hit him.
His pupils dilated; his body arched like a drawn bow, springing from the bed.
His muscles tensed to iron, and his veins stood out like long worms.
“Ah!!”

A raw, inhuman scream tore from his damaged throat, the sound of primal survival.
My chest tightened, but I couldn’t retreat.
“Hold him!” Rupert shouted, hands moving like lightning.
The real agony wasn’t the break, but the reset.
I threw all restraint aside, pressing my full weight onto him.
“Hold on! Astra! Hold on!”
My voice shook as I murmured in his ear. “Look at me! You’re a brave Alpha! You can do this!”
But he couldn’t hear me.
Pain blacked out his vision, and his cold sweat drenched the white cloth.
He sought something to grab.
His hand broke free from my hold, gripping my forearm with brutal force.
His untrimmed nails, digging in during his violent convulsions, sank deep and unrelenting into the flesh of my wrist.
Pain shot right through me as blood ran down my arm, dripping onto the pristine white sheets-shocking
and vivid.
I didn’t flinch.
Instead, I deliberately brought my arm closer letting his nails tear into my flesh

I freed my other hand and clamped it firmly against the back of his head, forcing him to meet my gaze. Both of us were drenched in sweat, as I poured out my Alpha’s will without restraint, trying to anchor his soul in the middle of the storm.
“One last time! One last time!” Rupert barked.

The bone snapped into place, the pin locking it.
Astra convulsed violently. Then, his eyes rolled back as he slipped into unconsciousness from pure agony:
Yet his hand remained clenched in mine, rooted as if it had grown there. I could not pry it open, no matter how hard I tried.
Looking at his face, pained even in sleep, I exhaled slowly. My arm was bloody, but inside, I felt an unprecedented calm.
This was a blood oath between men.
Cindy’s POV:
Outside the door, when the first “crack” sounded, Roger collapsed into a chair.
The following scream-hoarse, raw, and piercing-sent Fiona sprawling to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.
The old baroness’ trembling prayers stopped mid-chant.
I stood frozen, my body like stone.
For a moment, it felt as if my own heart had shattered along with the bone.
I bit my lip until it bled, holding back the urge to rush in.
I had promised.
I would trust them.
I would trust my child and my mate.
Time stretched impossibly. It felt as if a century had passed.
Finally, the sounds softened.
Rupert’s voice came faintly, “All done … splints … dressing applied…”
