Listening to all those disparaging remarks about Cindy, the irritation in my chest eased quite a bit.
Just then, Lily suddenly smiled and cut in. “Aunt Isabella, since Adam has already … chosen such a ‘special’ partner, then we really need to be careful when it comes to Noah’s marriage.”
She grabbed Hannah, who was still smiling foolishly, and pushed her forward in front of me. “What do you think of Hannah? Even though she’s from Duskfang Pack, she’s a proper pureblood werewolf. And just look at how much she admires you. She’s gentle, a Beta, physically strong, and close in age to Noah. If the two of them could…”
Before Lily could finish, the smile on my face froze.
I felt my temples pounding as a surge of nameless anger shot from my feet straight to my head.
Adam had given up military authority for Cindy, and in a sense even stepped away from his claim to the throne. That had already been a thorn in my heart.
And now, the moment Adam backed down, these people were already reaching for my second son, Noah?
What did they think my sons were? Some kind of meat to be carved up at will?
I looked at Hannah’s face, filled with naked ambition and greed. Just moments ago, I had found her sweet and pretty. Now I found her utterly repulsive,
What was Duskfang Pack, really? A fallen family with a terrible reputation, and they thought they were worthy of my son?
I might not like Cindy, but I despised even more women who schemed their way up by clinging to royal power.
At least Cindy had earned her position through military merit. What was Hannah, then?
Someone who thought a few flattering words could make her a future queen?
“Martha.”
I spoke coldly, my voice sharp with frost.

“Yes, Your Majesty.” Martha immediately sensed the shift in my mood.

“Take that coral bracelet back,” I said, not even sparing Hannah a glance. “Such a fine piece shouldn’t be worn by someone with impure intentions. It’s sullied.”
“Wh… what?” Hannah’s smile stiffened as she stared at me in disbelief. “Your Majesty … I…”
“What are you standing there for?” I snapped. “Martha, give her a handkerchief instead.”
Martha stepped forward and roughly stripped the bracelet from Hannah’s wrist.
Her movements were anything but gentle, leaving a red mark on that pale skin.
Then Martha pulled out a plain handkerchief and tossed it straight into Hannah’s face.
“Well? Aren’t you going to thank Her Majesty for her gift?” Martha urged coldly.
Hannah clutched the handkerchief, her face as white as paper. She stood there trembling, as if her soul had been ripped out of her body.
This was public humiliation.
Worse than receiving nothing at all.
Lily’s face darkened.
She clearly hadn’t expected me to turn on them so quickly, not only refusing to play along but openly humiliating her people in front of everyone.
But I did not care.
I was the queen.
I could reward whoever I pleased and punish whoever I pleased.
Anyone who dared set their sights on my son would find it impossible to survive in this kingdom.
The atmosphere in the hall grew unbearably awkward. Even the once-sweet scent of perfume in the air seemed to thicken and stall.
