Chapter 263 Going Out

Cindy’s POV:

I stepped onto the terrace, looked down, and froze.

Roger had practically mobilized his entire force.

A long line of wagons loaded with supplies filled the courtyard. Roger sat tall on a large horse, followed by dozens of strong pack members and servants.

“Cindy!” He jumped down, bounded up the stairs, and pulled me into a crushing hug. “I heard you’re short on help, so I brought everyone who can still move! We’ll stay in the castle for the next few days. Need barrels moved from the cellar or pigs chopped up in the kitchen? Just say it!”

“That’s right.” Fiona approached with a smile, followed by quick-handed maids carrying silver ribbons and pearls. “We’re here to decorate the bridal chamber and the hall. Cindy’s wedding will be the most stunning the kingdom has seen in 100 years!”

Watching everyone bustle around filled me with warmth, yet a deep exhaustion still weighed

on me.

I stood on the high wall, cold wind biting my cheeks as I watched them work below.

Even though I was about to marry into royalty, I still felt out of place.

“Still thinking about the academy?” Diana’s massive silver form appeared in my mind. She lay down with a helpless tone. “Cindy, don’t push yourself so hard. Maybe they truly had things they couldn’t avoid.”

“I know,” I whispered to my wolf spirit. “I’m just … disappointed. In my imagination, my wedding had Elder Selvaryn’s blessing, Oliver’s paintings everywhere, classmates laughing and cheering. Not like this… It’s grand, but missing warmth.”

“Oh! Ms. Cindy!”

Jewel suddenly popped up, cutting off my thoughts. “Why are you standing out here in the cold again? Tomorrow is the day you and the prince seal your bond. You should be smiling! Your frown might freeze!”

“I’m fine,” I said, forcing a smile.

“No, you’re not!” Jewel grabbed my hand. “You’ve got ‘I’m unhappy’ written all over your face!

“The new theater!” Fiona added brightly. “Tonight is the first performance since opening. A famous troupe is performing. I booked a private box. Let’s bring Astra along. It’s not good for him to stay stuck in the castle all day.”

I almost said no. But when I turned and saw Astra peeking from behind Fiona, and those silver-gray eyes full of hope, the refusal died in my throat.

“Alright.” I nodded, pulling my fur cloak tighter. “Let’s go see it.” –

Silverpeak Grand Theater.

That was the name they gave it once it was finished.

It was a stunning Baroque building, its interior drenched in gold. Huge crystal chandeliers lit up murals of gods and ancient werewolf ancestors painted across the dome.

We sat in a VIP box on the second floor, wrapped in thick velvet.
