I didn’t care about manners anymore. I didn’t care about how a bride was supposed to stay calm and graceful.
I shoved the carriage door open, lifted my heavy velvet skirt, and ran out without thinking.
The city gate was completely blocked by a huge, messy crowd.
But I saw them immediately.
The old man in a brand-new robe, with a scruffy beard, was Dean Dross. The one holding a cigarette and smiling kindly was Elder Selvaryn. And behind them were so many familiar faces.
“Sir!!”
I cried out like a wronged child seeing her family again. I stomped my foot, tears and snot running down together. “You lied to me! You said you weren’t coming! You made me sad for nights on purpose! You’re all terrible!”

“Even those broke monks from the Ancient Moon Monastery brought their last barrels of wine,” Diana’s voice said softly, thick with emotion. “Cindy, look. They didn’t forget you. You are a child of the pack. The pack never abandons its own.”
My heart surged, and I completely lost control. I burst into loud, ugly sobs.
“Waaah…”
I rushed forward and punched Elder Selvaryn twice, hard. Then I turned and kicked Oliver, who was standing nearby smiling calmly like nothing was wrong.
“You’re all liars!”
