Chapter 269 The Late Roar

Cindy’s POV:

The time had come.

The drawbridge of Silverpeak Castle slowly lowered with a deep, heavy boom.

Sixty-four knights in shining silver armor rode tall warhorses as they escorted my carriage forward.

Trumpets blared, and the drums thundered like the sky itself was shaking.

This was the special wedding escort ceremony of the Silverpeak Pack.

By the time our procession reached the kingdom’s city gates, it was already dusk.

At the same moment, at the far end of another road, the Blackstone Pack’s procession appeared as well.

Carrie sat inside a carriage covered in gold plating, surrounded by 68 knights in black armor.

She had chosen this exact time to meet us at the main road by the gate, just so her extra four riders could overpower me in presence.

When the two processions collided at the entrance, the wide road suddenly felt crowded.

Carrie lifted her curtain and glanced toward me from afar, a smug smile of victory on her lips.

The townspeople whispered excitedly, comparing both displays.

“Blackstone Pack really is rich. Their guard is even bigger than Duchess Spencer’s.”

“Silverpeak Pack has fallen. It’s already impressive they could gather this many.”

Hearing those words, I sat stiffly in my carriage, my fingers gripping my skirt tightly.

“Ignore them, Cindy,” Diana snorted inside my mind. “A bunch of clueless fools. Carrie’s perfume is so strong it makes me want to throw up.”

Just then, something unexpected happened.

“Make way! Everyone, move aside!”

From the far end of the long street came the rapid, perfectly timed pounding of hooves, along with loud shouts.

“The Free Traders Guild congratulates Duchess Spencer on her wedding! We present 10 crates of rare spirit crystals, and 100 bolts of deep-sea silk!”

Before the crowd could even react, another roar followed.

“The White Fang Knights congratulate Duchess Spencer! Presenting 30 warhorses and 50 sets of enchanted silver armor!”

Then the voices kept coming, louder and louder.

“The Elven Mages Circle sends three bottles of Water of Life!”

“The Ancient Moon Monastery sends 50 barrels of aged wine and ten high-grade defense scrolls!”

“The Crimson Dragon Mercenary Company sends a priceless dragon ruby!”

“The Royal Alchemists Union sends a full set of advanced healing potions!”

Even…

“The Eastern Sea Pirates League congratulates Boss-uh, Duchess Spencer on her marriage! We present one chest of deep-sea moonpearls!”

The entire city gate area exploded into chaos.

Every single gift was something powerful enough to shock an entire region.

These groups normally answered to no one, and some were even enemies. Yet today, they had all gathered in one place, only to celebrate Silverpeak Pack.

Carrie’s face turned ghost white. She gripped the window frame so hard her knuckles nearly snapped, her eyes

wide with disbelief.

But that still wasn’t the peak.

The final announcement was even more stunning.
