Chapter 300 Thick Skin
Prince Adam’s POV:
As I packed the gifts, I continued mapping out the day in my head.
Beyond the material offerings, attitude mattered more.
Today, in front of every mentor and relative, I would make a vow.
No matter how busy I became, I would ensure that Cindy wrote at least two letters to the academy each month, reporting on the details of her life. They needed to know she was well here-that they need not worry in distant Moonridge.
It would be reassurance for them-and a binding oath for myself.
“Your Highness, everything’s loaded.” Chase clapped his hands and gestured toward the three fully packed carriages.
“Good.” I adjusted my collar and drew in a steady breath. “Let’s go fetch my Princess Consort.”
The carriage rolled through the gates,
Cindy was already waiting outside.
She wore a violet gown today-a traditional ceremonial shade, yet on her, it carried an entirely different charm.
Silver thread shimmered along the hem in subtle patterns that caught the light as she moved.
Her hair was loosely pinned, adorned with nothing more than a simple pearl hairpin, which only made her complexion appear more luminous.
Astra held her hand, dressed in a small green robe, bright-eyed and spirited.
Jewel followed behind, her face glowing with cheer.
At the sight, memories from last night flooded back.
Last night…
The way she had blossomed beneath me-the shyness mingled with fire in her eyes, the soft breath against my neck-
My throat tightened. Heat surged downward before I could restrain it, and my gaze darkened.

Cindy seemed to sense it and looked up.
Our eyes met.
She clearly remembered the madness of the past forty-eight hours as well.

The decisive Duchess of Silverpeak-unyielding on the battlefield-now flushed crimson to the tips of her ears.
She quickly looked away, like a startled fawn. Even from several paces, I felt I could hear her heartbeat.
That bashful display made my heart skip a beat, I wanted nothing more than to scoop her into my arms right then and there,
“Ahem.
I cleared my throat and steadied myself, striding forward.
I took her hand naturally, our fingers interlacing
Her skin was cool and soft.
“Everything’s ready,” I murmured, brushing my thumb across her knuckles. “Let’s go.”
She lowered her gaze and followed without protest.
The regal composure of a duchess gave way to a woman’s quiet shyness, and it filled me with an inexplicable warmth.
“Jewel.” Astra suddenly asked once we were seated inside the carriage, curiosity sparkling in his eyes, “Why does Aunt Cindy blush whenever Uncle Adam holds her hand? Is she sick?”
Jewel covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. She glanced at our reddened faces and answered solemnly, “Mr. Astra, that’s called a ‘love reaction. When a man holds a woman’s hand, and they care for each other, she blushes.
Astra nodded, looking as though he half understood, then reached out his small hand to grab Jewel’s.
He stared at her for a long time before asking in confusion, “Then, why doesn’t your face turn red when I hold your hand?”
