Chapter 310 The Bomb
Cindy’s POV:
Finished
I looked at her and gave her a small, steady smile. “They dared to sign such a fair contract. They didn’t even bother hiding tricks in the wording. That’s because, dec down, they believed they didn’t need to.”
I folded my hands calmly. “They were sure you couldn’t read the books. Sure you wouldn’t dare check the accounts. And even if you found something wrong, they believed you wouldn’t make a scene. In their eyes, you’re easy to bully. Just an Omega they can scare a little and then take money from. So why waste time playing games with the contract?”
The words were harsh. But they were true.
Isabella’s expression changed rapidly. She was embarrassed and angry. Yet she couldn’t argue.
“But,” I said, standing up slowly, “that’s exactly our chance.”
A cold light flashed in my eyes. “If the contract is fair, then the law is our weapon. And don’t forget this: Adam is the Chief Justice now. Tonight, we’re going to the Crystal Palace.”
“T-tonight?” Isabella gasped. The handkerchief slipped from her fingers. “So soon?”
“Speed wins battles,” I said, straightening my sleeve. “We held Maria for a full day. We blocked the news, but Margaret is suspicious by nature. If we wait too long, she’ll notice. We need to strike while the iron is hot. Before she reacts, we put the knife at her throat.”
Her eyes filled with tears again. I walked over and patted her back like I was comforting a child.
“Don’t cry. Don’t be afraid. Tonight, you just sit there and watch. If the sky falls, Adam and I will hold it u
She looked up at me. Her eyes were wet and full of trust
She grabbed my hand. Her voice was hoarse. “Cindy, I’m counting on you. And please tell Adam not to be mad at me. I know I was wrong.”
Goosebumps crawled over my arms.
Isabella had always ruled the palace with pride. She loved giving orders and putting on airs. Seeing her act like a timid young girl felt strange to me.
“Don’t worry,” I said, gently pulling my hand free. “Adam is your son. No mother and son stay angry at each other for long.”
Just then, the door to the side room opened.
The treasurer, who had been working on the account all day, finally walked in. He carried his ledger and a thick stack of new bills.
“Your Highness, Your Majesty,” He wiped the sweat from his forehead. His face was serious. “The final numbers are ready.”
“How much?” I asked.
“For just the first three quarters of this year, the net pro reached 73,000 gold coins,” he said. “And the total
profit over the years has passed 200,000 gold coins.”
