She scrambled to her feet and cried out, “Yes! It must be Maria! That awful woman! I’ll drag her back here myself! I’ll question her until she confesses and make her return every cent she stole from Aunt Isabella!”

Watching the two of them put on such a tearful show, I felt nothing but cold amusement.

“There’s no need for you to fetch her,” I said calmly.

I stood in the center of the hall and looked at them without blinking. “Ms. Tillman is already in my custody. And she has confessed. She explained how the fake accounts were made and how the toxic, low-quality cosmetics were mixed in. Every detail.”

I looked at Lily’s cold expression and spoke slowly, one word at a time. “I came today to confirm one thing. If you knew about this and chose to stay silent-or wors, if you were the one behind it-then I won’t waste my time arguing. I’ll have Maria escorted straight to the High Court.
