As we traveled farther north, the land rose higher. The air grew thinner and colder with every mile. On the fourth morning, when dawn broke through the clouds, golden sunlight spilled over a long stretch of towering, snow-covered mountains ahead. My heart began to race. Blood roared in my ears.

Those were the Silverpeak Mountains.

That was my home.

Once, the strongest wolf pack in Northmere lived there. Silver battle banners stood on every peak. Laughter once filled those valleys. My father’s booming voice and the clash of my brothers’ training echoed through the mountains.

Now, I knew only scorched ruins remained. Even so, this place was still my root. It was the land that haunted my dreams, the place that could still make me wake up crying.

“Grand Duchess, we’re approaching the former grounds of the Silverpeak Pack,” Prince Adam said from outside the carriage. His voice was calm, respectful, and touched with regret.

The carriage slowed to a stop. I took a deep breath, lifted the curtain, and jumped down without hesitation.

The wind howled like countless invisible blades, cutting across my face. It swept away layers of snow and revealed blackened walls and broken stone beneath. Years had passed. Wild grass now grew through the cracks, covering the scars of war. But it could not hide the heavy sense of loss that pressed down on my chest.

The once-grand council hall had collapsed, leaving only a few shattered stone pillars pointing at the sky, as if accusing it in silence. The training ground, once loud and full of life, lay buried under ice. Only part of a broken drum showed through the snow.

Prince Adam stood behind me. He seemed to want to step forward and comfort me, but he stopped.

I did not cry.

A daughter of the Silverpeak Pack bleeds, but she does not shed tears. Tears cannot erase hatred. They cannot rebuild a home.

I closed my eyes and steadied my breathing. I felt the pulse of the land beneath my feet. My father and brothers were buried here. So were my people. Their spirits had never truly left.

Then I opened my eyes. My black pupils turned into pure, flowing silver.

I released everything I had been holding back-the Alpha presence of the Silverpeak Pack.

A cold, commanding force surged away from me. It carried the power of a rightful return. A visible wave of silver energy spread across the snowy plains, the forests, and the valleys in every direction.

“Awooo-!”

I threw my head back and howled.

This was not the bitter, restrained cry I once gave at Duskfang Pack. This howl was a declaration. A call. A promise of rebirth. It cut through the wind and snow, struck the mountain walls, and echoed through the deep valleys again and again.

I am Cindy Spencer! I am a daughter of the Silverpeak Pack! I am home!

When the howl faded, the world fell into silence.

Only the wind continued to blow.

My heart tightened. I stared at the thick cedar forest in the distance. Were they still there? Were my people still here?

One second turned into two…

Then-

“Awooo-!”

An old but trembling wolf howl rose from deep in the eastern mountains. It was weak, yet filled with excitement.

Then-

“Awooo-!”

“Awooo-!!!”

From the west. From the south. From far beyond the hills.

One answer became two. Two became three. Soon, wolf howls came from every direction. Some were weak. Some were young. Some were rough and broken. But every single one carried the same feeling. Joy. Relief. Hope after surviving the brink of death.

They were the Silverpeak Pack, who had lived through the disaster and scattered across the land.

They were the rogues who chose hunger and exile over serving another pack.

They were the followers who had relied on Silverpeak Pack and waited, year after year, for their Alpha to

return.

They had heard the call. The call was buried deep in their blood. The horn of an Alpha awakening.

The snow forest trembled. Snow fell from the branches in soft crashes.

Figures began to emerge from the white wilderness.

At the front was an old wolf with a limp, his fur dry and thin, his body little more than bones. Behind him came middle-aged warriors, covered in scars, eyes sharp with caution. In the center were young wolves, protected by others, fear and curiosity shining in their eyes.

They came from all directions and gathered at the ruins. They looked up at me. I stood atop broken stone walls, wearing a long silver-white coat that snapped in the wind. The Soulrip Gauntlets covered my hands, dark and fierce.

The storm whipped my long hair around me, but it could not dim the silver light in my eyes.

Their steps slowed. Confusion turned into shock, which later turned into disbelief. Disbelief burned into fierce hope and devotion.

They recognized me.

They recognized the familiar, powerful bloodline-the strength of the old Alpha.

“It’s Ms. Cindy! It’s Ms. Cindy!”

“My God, those are Alpha pheromones! A new Alpha has returned!”

“Silverpeak Pack isn’t gone! We still have a home!”
