Chapter 368 A Dagger Made from an Enemy

Cindy’s POV:

Duke Lance, my grandfather, was the supreme commander of the Northmere defensive line. Ever since Mother married Father, there had been ongoing tension between Grandpa and Father because of differing views on how to manage the Northmere territory between the Silverpeak Pack and the Lances. Later, when Silverpeak was destroyed, Grandpa was stuck on the front lines holding back a vampire counterattack and couldn’t even make it back for Mother’s funeral.

For the past three years, I was married to James and wasted my days in the household. Grandpa had been deeply disappointed in me. He hadn’t written me a single letter. I had thought he had completely given up on me as his granddaughter.

“Commander Lance… has always been thinking about you,” Prince Noah said, his voice turning low and heavy. “For these past three years, there hasn’t been a single day he didn’t blame himself. Not a single day he didn’t think about avenging his daughter, his son-in-law, and the entire Silverpeak Pack.”

Prince Noah placed the obsidian box into my hands. Its weight was so heavy that my hands trembled.

“Recently, the war in Southreach flared up again, and Franklin mobilized all his forces. That left a brief gap in the vampire defenses in Northmere.” Prince Noah’s eyes burned with fierce determination. “Commander Lance seized that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He personally led 30 thousand Frostwolf suicide fighters, tore through the vampire border under the cover of night, and pushed three hundred miles straight into enemy territory, directly into the lands of the vampire duke who destroyed Silverpeak Pack back then.”

I sucked in a sharp breath. Driving three hundred miles deep behind enemy lines with a lone force was an unbelievably risky strategy.

“That vampire duke, even though he died together with General Spencer back then, had his remains recovered by the vampires. They buried him with honors in their territory and even worshiped him as a hero.” Prince Noah gritted his teeth. “Commander Lance led his men straight through the guards at the tomb, blew the grave apart, and dragged that not-yet fully decayed body right out of the coffin.”

The hall fell completely silent. Even Queen Elizabeth and Queen Isabella covered their mouths, shocked by the brutality and intensity of the revenge.

“Commander Lance personally crushed that duke’s skull and pulled out the longest, sharpest fang from his mouth.” Prince Noah looked at the box I was holding tightly. “Then he summoned the best alchemical forgemaster in Northmere. Over seven days and seven nights, they used that vampire duke’s fang to forge this dagger for you. Commander Lance asked me to tell you this. He heard about what you did in Southreach. He heard how you killed Evelyn and rebuilt Silverpeak. He said, ‘Cindy, you truly carry the Lance blood. You are worthy of being Benjamin’s daughter.’ He is proud of you. He has been waiting for you in Northmere. After your wedding, he wants you to bring Adam, and bring this fang of vengeance, and go see him.”
