The Moon Goddess Temple was quiet and grand, its vast moonstone dome casting a gentle yet commanding light that highlighted the statues of former Wolf Kings, each carved with remarkable detail.

King Ryken sat on the Blackrock Throne, his presence overwhelminglike a sleeping volcano, calm but holding terrifying power beneath the surface.

I stood before him, not bending low but keeping my back straight, giving a slight nod of respect, an Alpha acknowledging a higherranking Wolf King.

Lift your head, daughter of Benjamin,King Ryken’s voice echoed steadily through the hall, calm yet firm.

I met his deep, intense gaze without hesitation. Your Majesty.

He gave a slight nod, his eyes mixing careful judgment with a touch of sympathy, but mostly the heavy burden of leadership.

Your father, Benjamin, was a legend of Northmere, a true hero to the Royal Court. The Silverpeak Pack suffered greatly defending Northmere, and the Court remembers that well. But why have you come today? If this is about James and Evelyn, know that the council’s decision won’t be changed.”

His words were straightforward, leaving no room for dodging.

Diana growled softly in my heart, unhappy with the formal tone, but even she knew honesty was the only way with King Ryken.

I shook my head, speaking clearly. Your Majesty. I’m not asking you to overturn the council’s ruling. James’s heart is made up, and trying to stop him would be pointless.”

A flicker of surprise flashed in King Ryken’s eyes. It seemed he hadn’t expected that.

I took a steady breath and continued, I’ve come to ask you, honoring my father and my three brotherssacrifices for Northmere and the Royal Court, to issue a BondBreaking Orderthat will completely and finally sever the destined mate bond between me and James, Alpha of the Duskfang Pack.”

The air seemed to stand still around us at my words.

King Ryken’s brow furrowed, his sharp eyes drilling into me as if searching my soul.

Break the bond?he repeated, clearly shocked. Cindy, do you understand what that means? The destined bond is a gift from the Moon Goddess. If it’s broken, your wolf spirit will endure terrible pain, and your future will be filled with hardship.”

“I know what’s at stake,I said, locking eyes with him and managing a faint, determined smile. But rather than be a block in their love or a thorn in their side. I want to let go, for their sake and mine. The Spencers bloodline will never live in shame.”

But your family the Silverpeak Pack King Ryken’s tone softened. After the bond is broken, what will you do? Go back to those ruins

Yes.I answered without hesitation. A few days ago marked the anniversary of my father’s and brothersdeaths. I returned to the Silverpeak Pack ruins to pay my respects. It’s desolate. but it’s still my home. I want to go back and guard their resting place. Maybe someday I can gather the scattered clans or raise new pups, so that the Silverpeak Pack’s honor will never disappear.

King Ryken studied me, emotions flickering behind his eyes.

He probably thought I was acting on impulse, but I had thought this through deeply.

You were meant to be James’s destined Luna. Even if Evelyn has taken your place. I could warn the Duskfang Pack and restore your rightful status. Why choose such a difficult path?He sounded confused, struggling to understand.

I lifted my chin, my eyes moist but defiant, though tears wouldn’t fall.

My voice shook but remained steady. Your Majesty, that kind of survival means nothing to me. My father and brothers carried honor and courage in their blood, and I will do the same. I refuse to bow to a loveless, disrespectful bond, and waste my life on it.

You really don’t have any feelings for him?King Ryken’s voice dropped, quieter now,

Feelings? Maybe once.

I admired the brave warrior within him. My mother had wanted me to find a strong Alpha for protection and peacethat was why I had agreed to be with James.

But who could have known? He turned out to be the one who hurt me the most.

I smiled. It was a real smile, coming from deep inside. Your Majesty, he was the one who first rejected me. So, of course, I can let go of him.

Underneath my fragile appearance, the stubborn spirit of the Northmere silver wolf shone brightly, meeting the King’s gaze.
