I turned toward the full formation, my voice steady and loud enough to reach every corner of the square. “The day before yesterday, I sparred with Miguel on the west training field. If you’re curious, you can go see it for yourselves right now.”

I turned and walked away. Adam remained silent, his gaze heavy on my back, then raised a hand to signal the army to move.

West training field.

The traces from my fight with Miguel were still there.

“Evelyn, watch carefully.”

I gestured at the long fissure running straight through the middle of the ground.

That day, I had released Diana’s wolf power in an instant, carving a scar that could never be wiped away.

“This was made by me,” I said as I took a bow and a quiver of arrows from the rack. “Keep watching…”

I lifted my eyes toward the lookout tower at the edge of the field, nearly 200 feet tall.

It was the highest structure in the camp, and only elite scouts were ever allowed up there.

“Evelyn, didn’t you say your defeat was because of bloodline? Then let me show you what real technique looks like.”

Before the echo of my words faded, I moved.

There was no sprint or assistance.

I shot straight up the sheer wall of the tower like a bird cutting through the air.

One feet, then two….

My feet tapped the narrow ledges as my body surged upward, my red cloak snapping sharply in the wind.

I landed on top in less than ten seconds.

“What the hell? How fast was that?!”

“Is she even human? Not even a flying bloodsucker moves like that!”

Gasps and shouts erupted from below.

I stood at the summit in the cold wind and drew the Fallmoon Bow from my back.

Nock. Draw.

My target was not a target board, but the crack in the ground far below.

More than three hundred yards away.

“Loose.”

I released.

The silver arrow became a streak of light, screaming through the air as it plunged downward.

Thud.

The arrow struck dead center, piercing straight into the heart of the fissure and burying itself deep, leaving only a single white feather quivering above the surface.

Silence swallowed the field whole.

Then the cheers exploded, roaring like thunder.

“General Cindy, mighty!”

“That shot is god-tier! A true marksman!”

“I knew General Cindy was never below Evelyn! She was just keeping a low profile!”

In that moment, everything changed.

Every voice that once doubted or mocked me flipped into burning admiration.

In a world that worships strength, sheer power was the ultimate proof.

Evelyn’s POV:

It’s over.

I’m completely done for.

I stared at the figure standing atop the tower like a goddess and listened to the crashing cheers around me, knowing I would never crawl out of this abyss for the rest of my life.

That arrow did more than split stone. It tore apart my pride and every lie I ever clung to.

Born inferior? Luring others with tricks? In front of absolute strength, those excuses were laughable and fragile.

I was never her equal.

No matter how fiercely I fought or how desperately I schemed, I was still nothing more than a toad in the mud staring up at a swan.

I turned my head toward James.

He was still supporting me, but his eyes… his eyes were different now.

He stared at Cindy on the tower, shaken and awestruck, and in his gaze was something I had never seen before, a deep and gnawing regret. What was he regretting?

Was he regretting throwing away a powerhouse like Cindy for someone as “useless” as me?

“Alpha…” My fingers trembled as I reached for his face, desperate to confirm that he still belonged to me. “Will you… hate me? I’ve lost my military merit, and I still have to endure 50 lashes… Will you abandon me?”

James snapped out of it and looked down at me, his eyes flickering as he avoided my gaze.

“Don’t lose control,” he said, his tone distant and restrained. “Focus on surviving the punishment. 50 lashes… even an Alpha would be flayed. Your body…”

He did not finish, but I understood.

50 lashes would not kill me, but the pain would linger for a long time and might leave wounds that would never fully heal.

Despair surged up like black floodwater and swallowed me whole.

“Take her away! Carry out the sentence!”

Adam’s cold voice cut through everything like a final judgment.

Two enforcers with bodies like iron stepped forward and dragged me from James’ arms.

I struggled and sobbed, staring at James, begging him with my eyes to say just one word for me.

But he did not.

He stood frozen for a moment, then turned away, refusing to look at me.

In that instant, my heart died.

Through the agony of bones breaking, the last image burned into my eyes was of Cindy standing on the tower, her cloak whipping in the wind, those silver eyes cold and distant as she looked down on everyone.
