Franklin didn’t react to my yelling at all.
He stepped closer, and every step felt like it stomped straight into my chest.
He stared down at me. His eyes held no anger, hatred, or even contempt.

It was like seeing a squashed stink bug by the side of the road neither worthy of pity nor rage, just plain disgust.
“Continental Treaty?”
Franklin finally spoke. His voice was deep and smooth, calm in a way that echoed through the cold wooden cabin.
“That rule is for real warriors. It’s for enemies worth respecting-like Benjamin, Prince Adam, and Cindy.”
He bent slightly, his cold stare slicing through my act. “But you’re not a warrior. You don’t even count as an enemy.”
“So what are you?” he asked softly, as if genuinely puzzled. “A beast that only knows how to chase fame, hunt power, and enjoy hurting the weak. A rotten body with a soul twisted by greed and envy.”
“You-” His presence crushed the air out of me. I tried to speak, but my throat locked up.
“You said it was for peace?” Franklin shook his head, a faint sneer on his lips. “I’ve fought more wars than you could ever imagine. I’ve seen countless werewolf commanders. Even Benjamin, who killed plenty of my people, earned our respect. We’d still pay respects at his grave. But you disgust me.
“You think killing brings honor? You think torturing a 16-year-old’ proves your strength? No. All you leave behind is hatred. An endless abyss.”
He turned away, as if looking at me any longer would dirty his eyes.
Then he nodded toward Ivan at the door, speaking as casually as if he were giving an everyday order.
“Start it. Let them feel everything Eric felt before he died.
“No! You can’t!” I panicked and stumbled back, slamming into the icy wall. “James will come for me! Prince Adam will save me! I’m a werewolf general! If you kill me, there will be consequences!”
Franklin stopped and glanced back one last time.
