The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 214

Just then, there was a knock at the conference room door, and someone pushed it open from the outside.

Mr. Blake, still furious, was enraged by the interruption. He whipped his head around. "Who are you? Who let you in!" he demanded.

Felice's expression changed when she saw who it was. "Sunny? What are you doing here?"

Sunny peeked her head in, glancing from Felice to Mr. Blake before stepping inside. "Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Blake. I just... I have something to deliver. I'll leave right away."

The oppressive atmosphere in the room was palpable. She swallowed nervously and walked over to Victoria, whispering, "Victoria, a man just dropped this on my desk. He said I had to give it to you right away."

She handed a portfolio to Victoria.

A small smile played on Victoria's lips. "Perfect timing."

Sunny was confused. "What is it?"

Felice, who had been listening, frowned and grabbed Sunny's arm. "You've delivered it. Now get out!" she snapped impatiently.

Pulled unexpectedly, Sunny stumbled. Victoria reached out and steadied her, then shot a look at Felice.

Meeting Victoria's eyes, Felice felt a jolt of panic and looked away. She felt a sudden, inexplicable wave of panic and quickly looked away.

"Victoria..." Sunny said, looking worried.

Victoria gestured for Sunny to take her seat, patting her on the shoulder and mouthing the words, "It's fine."

"Victoria!" Mr. Blake roared. "What is the meaning of this? Are you completely ignoring me?!"

"What do you mean?" Mr. Blake asked.

Victoria divided the documents she was holding, handing a stack to Mr. Blake and another to be passed around the table. "A little while ago," she began, "Vista Heights Lodge was sued by local residents over violent land acquisition. Mr. Blake, what you're holding is the court's ruling from one week ago. It clearly states that the development permit for Vista Heights Lodge has been revoked, and the parent company is under investigation, with no end date in sight."

"In other words, even though Aurelian Central signed a contract, the project can't move forward. Any investment made by the firm is gone." Her voice was cold and precise as she watched the color drain from Genevieve's and Felice's faces.

"Impossible..." Felice swayed, stumbling back two steps. "That's impossible! If something like that happened with a project this big, we would have heard about it! This has to be fake!"

"It's true. Violent land acquisition, a development halt... on a project this size, even if Vista Heights Lodge tried to suppress the news, they might fool the public, but someone in our industry should have heard rumors."

Victoria paused. "Unless..."

"Unless someone deliberately hid the information and conspired with Vista Heights Lodge to defraud the firm of its investment!" Sunny shot to her feet, finishing the thought with conviction.
