The Alpha King And His Chosen Luna novel Chapter 230

Hidden motives

(Isla)

A knock came at the door.

I waited a moment before crossing the room and opening it.

One of Wraithbone’s warriors stood outside. Beside him was Elder Evander with his hand

folded in front of him.

The warrior inclined his head.

“Luna Isla, Elder Evander requested a few moments of your time. Alpha King Caius hasn’t returned yet, so I remained with the Elder.”

I looked at Evander.

“What did you want to speak to me about?”

“It won’t take long,” he replied. “If you’re willing.”

I stepped into the hallway but stayed close to the doorway.

“What is it?”

He watched me for a moment before speaking.

“Has your wolf ever spoken a name you didn’t recognize?”

The question surprised me.

I searched my memories.

Vaela had shared thoughts, feelings, memories, and warnings with me since she awakened.

But never a name I didn’t know.

I shook my head.

“No.”

“You’re certain?”

“Yes.”

He gave a small nod.

Judden motives

“If she ever does, I would appreciate knowing.”

I frowned.

“Why?”

“There are still things about Celestial wolves that history doesn’t explain.”

His answer sounded simple enough.

Even so, it didn’t explain why he had come looking for me after the Council meeting just to ask that question.

He inclined his head again.

“Thank you, Luna Isla.”

He turned and walked away.

The warrior remained where he was until the Elder disappeared around the corner. Only then did he nod respectfully before following after him.

I closed the door and remained where I was for a moment.

The hallway had already gone quiet.

Even so, Elder Evander’s question stayed with me.
