The Alpha’s Nanny (Lori and Gabriel) novel Chapter 14

**The Ocean Remembers Everything**
**By Julia Allan**
**Chapter 14**

The underground was a realm steeped in shadows and whispers, a place that thrummed with danger and trepidation. For those who were not werewolves, it was a nightmare waiting to unfold; for those werewolves who belonged to packs other than the Moon Fang, it was a perilous trap.

Nestled deep within the heart of the city, the underground was one of Gabriel’s many establishments, a secret hidden beneath the bustling streets above. Gabriel had a penchant for visiting this place once a week, often without prior notice, driven by a need to monitor the activities of the werewolves who gathered there.

Once upon a time, this underground lair had served as a meeting ground, a sanctuary for discussions and alliances. But as the pack grew, it had transformed into a cramped training facility, one of several that dotted the city.

To the average human outsider, it appeared to be nothing more than a fight club—a gritty venue where individuals came to engage in brutal bouts, placing bets on the outcome of each clash.

Draco had brought along the werewolves who claimed to be part of his pack, knowing that this was a space from which they could not easily escape. The perimeter was tightly guarded by members of his own pack, ensuring that there would be no chance for them to slip away unnoticed.

He needed to ascertain their loyalty before offering them the resources they sought.

Gabriel remembered vividly the day he ascended to the role of Alpha. The sting of betrayal was still fresh in his mind, the faces of those who had defected from his pack etched into his memory. Over a hundred had turned their backs on him, deeming him too young and inexperienced to lead.

Some had become omegas, others had sought refuge in rival packs, but many of them ultimately regretted their choices. Yet, Gabriel had never extended forgiveness; he believed that loyalty was paramount, and those who abandoned their Alpha were not deserving of a second chance.

Now, he was certain that the men who approached him were omegas—lost souls who had wandered away from their true path, now crawling back to him in search of redemption.

Lori had been dressed in black shorts and a pale blue tank top, the fabric lifted just enough to allow Emilia to latch on, the baby suckling with an insatiable hunger. The sight had been both beautiful and bewildering, and he had fled before he could fully process it, leaving Lori looking just as startled as he felt.

As the elevator doors slid open, the first thing that greeted him was the imposing sight of a large boxing ring dominating the center of the room. Five men were engaged in a fierce contest within the ring—two in their werewolf forms, muscles rippling with power, while the other three remained in their human forms, eyes locked in fierce concentration.

Fights among werewolves were a common occurrence in the underground, a dangerous yet familiar spectacle. Gabriel had attempted to banish these brutal contests, but his efforts had proven futile. For many, these fights were not merely a sport; they provided a sense of purpose, a way to channel their primal instincts.

As he stepped further inside, the atmosphere shifted. The fighters paused, their movements freezing in place as they sensed his presence. It was a stillness that only an Alpha could command, a reverent bow of acknowledgment that swept through the room, even from those still in their wolf forms.

The keeper of the underground approached him, a figure shrouded in authority and respect, ready to discuss matters that Gabriel knew would shape the future of his pack.
