Chapter 230
True to his words. Gabriel was waiting at the entrance.
‘Shall we?!”
He asked as he stretched his arm for her to hold.
‘We shall.”
Vara and Lyle were transferred in the same holding cell, briefly, while their cells were being cleaned.
It was the first time Vara had set her eyes on Lyle since the incident.
And if she thought she looked bad, he looked way worse.
He didn’t even react or flinch when he saw her, he had nothing but a blank and empty stare.
It was quite the surprise.
“Here we are again…”
Vara broke the silence.
Lyle had been put in silver handcuffs and while Vara might have been ignorant she knew that they did it to prevent any altercation between the two of them.
After all she did kill his brother.
Lyle slowly raised his head. Days in the cell had made his hair overgrown, giving him a shaggy beard and mustache.
He looked like a wild homeless man.
“You killed my brother.”
Vara shook her head,
“It was you I meant to kill.”
“But you still killed him.”
He persisted. His voice was like sandpaper,
“He was in the way.”
Lyle scoffed.
“You pointed the gun at him. Not me.”

Chapter 230
ETSA
That was true. She did point the gun at him.
“Does it matter again now?”
She finally asked and Lyle nodded.
“It does. Always would.”
“You betrayed my Alpha.”
She attacked.
Lyle scoffed.
“Sabine was a nutcase. I tried… many times to reason with her.. but she clearly had other goals and plans that didn’t have to do with me.”
“That wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t run away.”
“I know I’m weak… and days alone might have made my memories foggy, but do not confuse me for a fool Vara. She had been planning to take me out for a
while.”
Yes. She was. But only because of how unreliable Lyle was becoming.
He included his brother. He became irrational. He did things without consulting Sabine.
He brought everything upon them.
“If only you had followed the plan…”
“Doesn’t matter anymore now does it?”
He answered.

Vara turned her face away.
The cell was small, with only one window that was so high… it was impossible to reach. And the window didn’t even provide a look outdoors or brought in
light… it probably led to another room outside.
“Do you know what they’ll do to you?”
He asked and she shrugged.
“Probably kill me when they find out I’m no use to them…”
“And you? What will they do to you?”
Lyle sighed.
“My mother is the only reason I’m still alive… but unfortunately
that’s as far as Gabriel is willing to let her interfere.”

Chapter 230
“I am entirely at his mercy.”
Lyle didn’t sound bitter, or even angry or jealous. Just resignation. He was a man who was tired. A man who had had enough.
Or was done with everything.
“Same..”
She murmured.
It was useless to hope for Sabine. Or that she would find a way to save her.
She just wished and desperately hoped that they killed her quickly.
That would be a relief.

The conference hall fell silent as Lori and Gabriel walked in. Lori took in the sight before her. It was an enormous room. Brightly lit with at least a hundred or more people packed in the spot. The two empty chairs left were easy to spot. And it was theirs. Their entrance did not go unnoticed. The meeting had
started already and they were the last ones to arrive. All eyes were on them till they took their seats in the row in the front.
They both decided not to give any explanation or apologies. Lori was itching to see Sabine’s face in the back but decided that she could wait.
Let them finish the meeting.
See if Sabine would stay.
They had barely settled in when they heard some scuffling. Lori turned and saw Sabine making her way for the exit.
“She’s getting away…”
She murmured and Gabriel stiffened.
“Leave her.”
“Are you sure?!”
She asked and he nodded,
“Our fight with her will always remain. But today… today isn’t the day.”
“Gabriel.”
Lori called out again. Mildly confused by his change of attitude.
Barely two hours ago he wanted to strangle her, now he was just letting her walk away freely.
She didn’t understand it.
