Chapter 262

Even though they had gone over the plan multiple times, Lori still felt jittery and nervous. The anxiety was eating at her, fast and quick. It didn’t help that her clothes were still slightly wet and she was uncomfortable and cold. The nephilim guards lone had got had managed to do a sweep of the area. They estimated the number of wolves around to be at fifteen, all scattered strategically around the mansion.
The nephilim guards promised to handle all the guards, just as long as Lori and Gabriel went inside first, they promised to handle everything else. They would block all exits, so no one got out, that way anyone in the house would be unable to escape.
Gabriel assured her that it would all be fine, and she tried to stay calm at the thought that it would, they were so close now, closer than they had ever been. Her son was just a few metres away from her.
The nephilim guards went in first, and then chaos ensued. The whole party erupted in chaos, Gabriel ushered Lori in and they stepped into the bashed in front entrance. The guards had managed to lure most of the wolves out. The foyer was empty, but they could both hear footsteps down the hall. Someone had heard the commotion and was rushing towards them.
Lori could smell her son more now, his scent heavy in the air, it clung to the air and she suspected something was wrong. She knew her sense of smell wasn’t that good, so for her to catch his scent so well, something must be up.
Gabriel was pointing towards the large spiral staircase when Axel and two other men appeared.
The shock registered on his face, but he wasted no time in pointing at Gabriel.
“Get him! I’ll deal with the girl.”
Gabriel gave Lori a look.
His look held one word.
Run.
She ran the opposite direction, her feet fast and she disappeared into a large hallway. No one followed her, she suspected Gabriel would keep the men occupied. She followed the scent, down the hall, to another hall. The mansion was huge, bigger than she had expected. With lots of corners and room.
The only thing she focused on was her own breath. Through the windows, the pale light of the moon shone beneath the dark deep clouds. She glanced outside and saw a winged nephilim literally tearing a wolf apart, she turned away quickly. Everything looked so ghastly.
There was a door down the hallway, she had a strong sense that her son was behind it. She got up and slowly made her way towards the final door. Het knees were weak, her body still recovering from the training from earlier and the after effects of the pool incidence.
Lastly, she reached it. She grabbed the door handle and pushed herself inwards. Oh my God! She thought, the room was so dark and so creepy, it was unlike the room she had seen in her son’s memories.
No windows, no light, nothing! She stood there in the silent darkness for a moment, holding her breath. She knew there was something hidden behind the darkness. She stilled herself and focused on her hearing.
Then she heard it, someone was breathing slowly, at the corner of the room. Her son was in the room, the scent was stronger than it had been so she knew he was in the room. But there was nothing to suggest that there was a baby in the room.
‘Who’s there?!*

Chapter 262
Lori called out.
No answer.
She knew she would have to shift if she wanted to see in the dark, but she didn’t want to draw too much attention to herself.
Not yet. Not until she saw who she was dealing with.
‘I’ll give you three seconds.”
Lori warned.
Suddenly, light flooded the room, someone had turned the light switch on.
There was the lady she had seen earlier, in her son’s memories, standing at the corner with her son in her hands. He looked like he was sleeping.
Lori had no qualms with her.
If she handed her her son, she would live.
She stretched her hand.
