Chapter 153
Nicole was in front, about 20 feet ahead of Zeph.
Zeph sensed something was off. Without even turning around, he kicked out, sending one man flying. Then he spun and snapped the other man’s neck in one clean motion.
Nicole felt the sudden rush of air behind her and instinctively drew her blade, stabbing backward.
The blade sank in with a wet sound. At the same time, a brick came crashing down toward her head.
Nicole twisted aside, stepping quickly to the side.
She avoided the hit, but the brick shattered on impact.
It didn’t land on her. Zeph had taken it on his shoulder.
That made her eyes widen.
Up ahead, Derek and Victor heard the commotion and rushed over with knives. “You okay?”
Zeph grunted. “I’m fine.”
Nicole snapped back. “Are you sure?”
“I’ve got layers on. Shouldn’t be broken.”
Two men were already dead. The one Zeph had kicked away turned pale, scrambling up and running.
Not just him. A woman not far off bolted as well.
Clearly, they were all together.
Nicole sprinted after him. While running, she reached into her bag and pulled a boning knife from her storage space before throwing it hard.
The man’s thick clothes softened the impact, but the force still knocked him off his feet.
Nicole caught up, her cold gaze locking onto him.
He panicked. “It was a misunderstanding! We didn’t mean it!”
They had only planned to rob them. They hadn’t expected their targets to be this dangerous, killing without hesitation.
“Didn’t mean it? I find that very hard to believe.”
“Lady, I was wrong. Please let me go. I’ve got a wife and kids at home…ah!”
Nicole didn’t have the patience to listen. One clean stab ended him.
Who didn’t have people to take care of? If she died today, what would happen to Cola?

“Ah!” The woman rushed back when she saw the man stabbed, clutching his body and screaming at Nicole, “What the hell is wrong with you? How could you just kill people? Don’t you care about the law at all? Honey, wake up… Don’t die!”
She cried hysterically, clinging to the corpse.
“The law?” Nicole almost laughed. “If you cared about the law, would you have tried to kill us?”
“But we didn’t! You’re not even hurt. Did you have to be so cruel and kill him?”
“So because we didn’t die, it’s our fault?”
What kind of twisted logic was that?
The woman tried to keep yelling, but Nicole didn’t give her the chance. If they were a couple, they could stay together.
The woman’s eyes widened in shock, like she couldn’t believe Nicole would really kill her. Her mouth opened, but the cold air rushed in, freezing her before she could say a word.
