Chapter 188

After a serious struggle, Nicole finally pried the toilet loose and tossed it into her storage space.

The living room was outrageously luxurious, decorated with antiques, decorative crystals, gemstone displays, and solid gold sculptures shaped like masks. She moved through the space, collecting everything in sight.

Then she caught the complicated look Zeph was giving her.

Yeah, maybe she was going a bit overboard, but this was the apocalypse. She had no factory jobs to fall back on, no way to earn anything the normal way.

Seeing him just standing there, Nicole felt a little awkward. “We split it 50-50?”

“No.” Zeph shook his head. “There are a few safes in the bedroom. Help me take those.”

Oh. So he did want something. That made things simpler.

Nicole didn’t waste a second. She stepped into the massive, high-end bedroom. Five huge safes sat lined up side by side.

Being the good friend she was, she took the whole lot.

Anything valuable didn’t get left behind, either. Consider it payment for today.

As for the rest of Liora Estates, she left that to law enforcement. They were just about to leave when the hallway door suddenly took a hit.

Damn it. That had to be law enforcement.sweeping Luke’s residence.

They were professionals. Fighting head-on would be suicide. It was time to disappear.

Zeph stepped into her storage space again, but something immediately felt off. The huge living room

now only held the five safes they had just taken, along with their spare clothes and the submachine gun.

Everything else she had just collected was gone.

Especially that gold toilet.

Nicole coughed awkwardly and pointed outside.

Zeph looked toward the black soil garden, surprise flashing in his eyes.

Her storage space had expanded.

Nicole felt it, too. This time, the increase was significant. By her estimate, it had increased around 2,000 square feet, roughly 40,000 cubic feet total.

And there was something else.

A new room had appeared on the second floor.

Still, based on her past experience, what she had just taken shouldn’t have been valuable enough to trigger this much growth. The storage space was usually stingy.

Then again, it had already swallowed everything. Whether it gave more or less wasn’t up to her.

Nicole glanced at the time, a little pained. “How long do we have to stay in here?”

“Hard to say. At least five to ten hours before it’s safe to leave.”

Before the apocalypse, something like this would’ve taken days to hand over, with lockdowns lasting months.

Hearing they would have to stay here for five to ten hours, Nicole nearly lost it.

Her storage space only gave her two hours a day. Outside of basic stuff like washing up, she barely ever

used it.

Did he have any idea how hard it was to save up five to ten hours? This was like cutting into her flesh!

But what choice did she have? Going out now meant getting surrounded.

Since they were already in, sitting around wasn’t an option.

Nicole handed him the pry bar. “You wanna open the safes?”

“Is it safe to do that here?”

“Yeah. No one outside can hear it.”

So they got to work together, prying them open one by one. The metal screeched loudly.

Finally, one popped open.

It was empty.

Zeph’s brow tightened slightly, but he didn’t say anything.

Nicole had spent enough time around him to read it. There had definitely been something inside before.

“Well, my storage space is kind of…aggressive. Anything with value, like gold, silver, crystals, antiques, and paintings, it just takes it and converts it into space.”

That explained it.
