Chapter 208
The officer sipped his hot water, trying to warm up, but something kept nagging at him. After a moment, he pulled the letter back out and looked at it more closely.
The handwriting…
It felt familiar. Like he had seen it somewhere before.
He sat there thinking for a long time, then suddenly slapped his forehead.
This was one of the people who had written in to report the Drakebane Guild! 1
Jasper had made it clear back then. The informant had to be someone high up in the organization, and they were supposed to track that person down.
No matter how much they investigated, however, they found nothing. They had assumed the informant had disappeared for good.
Now, they were back; this time, claiming to predict the future. If what the letter said was true, it would be a disaster for all of humanity.
The officer didn’t dare take it lightly. He carefully put the letter away, planning to hand it to Jasper first thing in the morning and let his superior decide what to do.
The temperature kept dropping.
Nicole stayed indoors, as usual. She spent her days curled up in her room, sleeping in, catching up on her studies, and heading over to Zeph’s place for workouts.
She had already moved past the awkward incident from a couple of days ago. Zeph clearly didn’t care, so there was no reason for her to dwell on it either.
Cola, on the other hand, had way too much energy to stay cooped up.
What surprised her was that his “trainer” had started slacking off, passing the responsibility to Poppy
and letting her take over.
Every day, Poppy dragged Cola out for training.
Cola wasn’t impressed.
Was she training him, or was he training her?
In the end, they settled into a strange rhythm. One minute, she was trying to discipline him, and the next, he was dragging her around. It turned into a back-and-forth that kept them both busy.
Peaceful, in its own way.

One morning, Nicole was still asleep when loud knocking suddenly shook the door.
“Nicole! Nicole!” Jeremy’s voice was urgent.
Nicole jolted awake, thinking something had gone wrong. She rushed out of her room, hair a mess. What happened?”
“Happy birthday!”
Jeremy and Hughie jumped out at the same time. With a loud pop, a party popper exploded right over her head, showering her in colorful confetti.
The noise was so sharp that for a split second, Nicole almost pulled out a gun from her storage space
and shot them.
Luckily, she stopped herself in time.
They had found the party popper in a mall earlier and kept it out of boredom. Now, they finally had a
reason to use it.
Birthday?
Nicole blinked, still dazed.
It took her a moment to remember. Her birthday really did fall near the end of the year.
She had never liked celebrating it. As an orphan, it was just a reminder of being abandoned. There was nothing to celebrate.
