The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 234

Chapter 234

Hughie went speechless for a moment before finally forcing out, “Nicole, are we still friends or not?”

He’d had stomach problems since he was a kid. Doctors always told him to eat light, easy-to-digest food. Now that he had finally recovered, gained some confidence, and straightened his spine a little, this was

how she crushed him?

Nicole immediately reflected on herself with complete sincerity. “Sorry. My bad.”

Beatrice burst out laughing. “Don’t mind him, Nicole. He’s been a little unhinged lately.”

As long as everyone was fine, Nicole didn’t care. Hughie’s group could keep clowning around or resting

however they wanted.

With food stored away, people naturally felt safer.

The past two months had been dangerous, but they had managed to survive every close call while also earning plenty of extra supplies on the side. Hughie’s group felt far more secure now, enough to invite both neighboring households over for dinner.

There was meat, canned food, alcohol, and enough rice for everyone to eat their fill.

Nobody knew what tomorrow would bring. Supplies earned with your life absolutely needed to be stockpiled, but people also had to enjoy the present while they still could.

After gaining more real combat experience against criminals, all three of them unanimously decided to continue working patrols for food.

Zeph never accepted Hughie’s meals for free.

In return, he taught them several brutal close-combat techniques designed for fighting dangerous attackers and surviving lethal situations.

The police department trained them as well, but it was nothing compared to tactics from a former special ops officer.

Different positions meant different approaches.

Police training focused on restraint and arrest techniques, emphasizing control and apprehension.

Zeph taught counterattacks meant for life-or-death situations. They were fast, ruthless, and efficient

enough to kill.

The three of them practiced with complete focus, drilling the moves over and over again.

There was more good news, too.

Thanks to her combat ability, Beatrice had earned the appreciation of the patrol captain and been promoted to squad leader. Her grain salary increased from eight pounds to twelve.

Jeremy and Hughie instantly turned jealous.

Deep down, both men decided they needed to toughen up and stop getting outperformed by a woman. They wanted squad leader positions, too.

The two of them practiced nonstop, not only in the hallway during the day, but even while lying in bed at night, seriously discussing how Zeph managed to kill with a single move.

Eventually, the idiots started practicing neck-snapping techniques on each other in the middle of the

night.

“Ow, go easier!”

“Ah, you go easier, too!”

Beatrice immediately stormed over and kicked the door. “What are you two doing in there?”

Hughie got so scared that he instantly scrambled out of bed, frantically pulling on his coat.

“B-Babe, we’re practicing the combat techniques Zeph taught us.”

Apparently afraid she wouldn’t believe him, he even dragged her back to their room afterward to personally “demonstrate.”

Not long later, sounds started coming from the neighboring room.

Jeremy stuffed his ears shut with all his strength.

Right. Clearly, his existence was unnecessary. 1

Over the next few weeks, Zeph went out several more times and gradually brought new supplies back

home.

One day, he returned with a pair of rabbit-fur gloves.

Nicole instinctively refused.

“I already have temperature-regulating gloves. Give them to Poppy instead.”

“I already bought Poppy a pair. These are too big for her.”

Since he had already brought them back, refusing would probably just force him to trade them away

elsewhere.

So, Nicole reluctantly accepted them.

“What do you want in exchange?”

Zeph thought for a moment before answering seriously, “The instant noodles you make taste good.”

Nicole immediately decided she would make him roast beef flavor and even throw in two extra sausages.
