The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 236

Chapter 236

“Okay, Zeph. I’ll eat it,” Poppy said with a serious expression.

She picked up the potato, only to yelp and drop it onto the table because it was too hot.

Zeph calmly picked it back up, peeled the skin off in a few quick motions, and handed it back to her.

The little girl lowered her head and ate slowly.

“Thanks, Zeph.”

She was only six years old, and surviving in an apocalypse this brutal wasn’t easy on a child.

Nicole couldn’t help sighing inwardly. Thank goodness her dog was obedient and never picky about food. Raising Cola was way easier than raising a kid.

Sensing Poppy’s sadness, Cola padded over and offered up his floppy ears, gently nudging her with his head in comfort.

After forcing herself to finish the potato, Poppy picked up another one and kept eating. Once she was done, she wiped her mouth and promised Zeph seriously, “I won’t waste food anymore.”

Zeph softened and comforted her with a few quiet words. Before long, Poppy perked back up and happily dragged Cola into the room to draw pictures.

Meanwhile, Nicole discussed the next round of planting with him.

They could dig up more soil from her storage space since it was fertile and loose, but they had run out of

antifreeze solution.

The antifreeze formula had originally been developed by an agricultural research institute. Neither of them had connections to get more, so they could only wait and see whether the Goodmans had any way of finding it.

Besides that, the original potato seeds and antifreeze had both come from the Goodmans, so Nicole planned to repay them with ten pounds of potatoes. 1

As for the rest of the harvest, neither she nor Zeph lacked food right now, meaning the entire remaining batch could go toward planting.

If everything went smoothly, the next harvest would easily exceed 1,000 pounds.

“I want to keep ten pounds aside,” Zeph said after thinking it over. “I’ll give them to Poppy once in a while.

Before the apocalypse, spoiling a child a little wasn’t a big deal, but things were different now.

Zeph worried that if Poppy got too used to good food and comfortable living, she would lose understanding of how cruel the outside world really was. In the apocalypse, that kind of innocence could become deadly.

Nicole instinctively tried to pull away, but he had already opened the bedroom door.

Holy…

The entire room was packed floor-to-ceiling with supplies.

The master bedroom included a bathroom and walk-in closet, probably around 500 square feet total.

Every inch of it overflowed with survival goods.

Rice, flour, cooking oil, medicine, gasoline, propane tanks, huge cardboard boxes stacked neatly together, and tightly wrapped bags of supplies she couldn’t even identify clearly.

But one glance was enough to tell they were valuable.

“You…”
