She carried the clothes over to Hughie’s apartment, making no effort to hide her generosity.

“Made these myself. Hurry up and try them on.”

Jeremy and Hughie stared at her in disbelief.

They were already so hot that they barely wanted to wear underwear. Who in their right mind would put on long sleeves and pants right now?

Still, Nicole had gone through the effort, so they couldn’t exactly refuse.

Honestly, the two of them were so touched that they almost cried.

After trying on the clothes, the three of them went quiet. The heat faded almost immediately, like the temperature had suddenly dropped more than ten degrees.

It felt like standing in front of an air conditioner blasting cold air, enough to raise goosebumps on their

skin.

Nicole deliberately acted mysterious. “Know what I traded to get this fabric?”

“What?” the three asked immediately.

Nicole raised two fingers. “Two guns.”

The three of them were instantly stunned.

She actually traded guns for fabric? Those were life-saving weapons!

After building up enough emotion, Nicole sighed dramatically.

“Back during the -90-degree weather, my brain was practically frozen solid. Some guy talked me into trading for this so-called temperature-regulating fabric, said it would keep you at 77 degrees year-round

“I was freezing so badly back then, I didn’t even think before agreeing. After I got home and made clothes out of it, I still nearly froze to death anyway. I regretted it so much afterward.

“Later, I tried finding the guy again, but he’d disappeared completely. A few days ago, I was sorting through winter clothes and found the outfit by accident. I tried it out of curiosity and realized this thing actually works.”

Her performance felt so convincing that she almost believed it herself.

Seriously, making up excuses to give people things was exhausting.

Nicole casually explained the temperature range as if she were only guessing.

“I think it keeps the body around a stable temperature within plus or minus 80 degrees. You can test it yourselves later.”

The three of them barely thought about the details anymore. Right now, all they could feel was excitement. This thing was literally life-saving equipment.

The only painful part was the cost. Two firearms for a bit of fabric.

The three exchanged looks. Then Hughie silently pulled out his own gun and handed it over.

“Nicole, take this one.”

“What, you think I’m short on guns?

“Back when Zeph and I dealt with the Drakebane Guild, we stripped all their weapons afterward. We ended up with four guns total, just not much ammo.

“At the time, we figured empty guns weren’t useful anyway since we were rushing to Liora Estates, so we tossed them aside at home and forgot about them later.

“The extra two counted as shared property, so we used them to trade for this fabric. You don’t owe me

anything.

“But the amount of fabric was limited. I used every last bit making these. Try not to wear them out, because once they’re damaged, that’s it.”

Hughie grinned so hard his face nearly split. “Don’t worry. We’re treating these like treasure. We won’t wear them unless we absolutely have to.”
