The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 289

Chapter 289

Zeph laughed softly at Nicole’s reaction. “Yeah. They’re all yours.”

He honestly hadn’t expected her to have such a straightforward, almost childlike side to her. She looked like a kid who had just walked into a candy store.

Nicole climbed into the shipping container and realized every SUV inside was brand new. The protective film still covered the paint, which meant the vehicles had probably just arrived before the disasters hit

and never made it to customization.

Honestly, these were already top-tier off-road vehicles straight from the factory. Modifying them further

was almost a waste.

Back before the collapse, rich kids loved turning perfectly good supercars into obnoxious status symbols with engines loud enough to wake half the city.

Now, though, they were perfect.

Zeph inspected the vehicles carefully. From what he could see, all three SUVs were still in excellent

condition.

The vehicles themselves were high quality, but the sealed shipping containers were the real reason they survived the flooding and deep freeze intact.

Honestly, it felt like the apocalypse had finally decided to give something back for once.

Nicole looked at the second container with growing anticipation. The first one had already delivered a miracle. Maybe they would hit the jackpot twice.

Together, they forced the doors open.

Instead of luxury vehicles or hidden treasure, the entire container was packed floor-to-ceiling with

automotive parts.

The moment the doors swung open, several heavy tires nearly came crashing down on top of them. If they hadn’t dodged in time, they probably would’ve died right there.

The tires were still sealed in pristine packaging, all Michelin.

The brand was famous for its high-performance tires for luxury and performance vehicles. Even before the apocalypse, a single tire could sell for thousands of dollars.

But the container held far more than tires.

The container held engines, oil seals, belts, interior trim pieces, seats, body panels, clutches, brake components, shock absorbers, and all kinds of expensive replacement parts.

Zeph glanced at Nicole and smiled slightly. “This container’s mine.”

Nicole nodded so hard she practically vibrated. “Absolutely!”

Then Zeph reminded her, “The cars are useless without the keys.”

So the two of them swam back toward the club and searched through the maintenance department and

customer service offices.

Nobody handling luxury cars would casually hang keys on a wall somewhere. After checking every cabinet they could find, they still came up empty.

Eventually, Nicole tossed the safe from the customer service office into the storage space and pried it open. Inside were more than a dozen car keys, but none of them matched.

Nicole frowned. Where had the actual keys gone? Did the owner wear them around his neck like jewelry?

As she stood there thinking, her eyes drifted toward the two safes they had recovered earlier from the

rich heir’s suite.

She immediately cracked them open, too.

This time, they hit gold.

The keys were neatly sealed inside waterproof bags, still brand new and unopened.

Besides the keys, the safes also contained stacks of account books and records.

The safes themselves were waterproof, but after sitting underwater for over a year, moisture still seeped inside. Most of the ink had bled into unreadable smears.

Nicole grabbed the keys and dried them carefully with a hair dryer before aiming them toward the

vehicles outside.

Beep!

It worked.

All three vehicles responded perfectly.

Nicole instantly claimed every single one.

Unfortunately, spending time inside the storage space came with a price. Watching time drain away always made Nicole feel like she was hemorrhaging money, except worse. Saving time was way harder than saving cash.

She immediately waved at Zeph. “Come on, let’s go already.”

By the time they got home, it was late again.

After showering, Nicole collapsed onto the couch like her soul had left her body. Zeph sat beside her and let her lean against his shoulder while she recovered.

She was exhausted, but the thrill of scavenging luxury supplies for free was dangerously addictive. Without even realizing it, she had started craving the rush.
