The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 288

Chapter 288

At this point, there was no way to carefully pick through anything.

Zeph and Nicole could only grab standard sizes and collect whatever they managed to find.

Zeph ripped open boxes one by one, checked whether the contents were still usable, estimated the quantity, then called Nicole over to store everything away.

The pressure underwater drained her fast. Whenever Nicole got too exhausted, she ducked into the storage space to recover.

The plan was simple: collect as much as possible first. If the storage space filled up later, they could always throw out the less valuable stuff.

By noon, they had hauled in thousands of cubic feet of inventory. Even after setting aside what they needed for themselves and what they planned to donate, there was still enough to last three generations.

Well, assuming there even were future generations.

And if not, that was fine, too. She could always save it as gifts for Poppy and Cola.

Around midday, Zeph finally called for them to leave.

Nicole immediately went into the storage space to eat and sleep. She had burned through too much mental energy. At times like this, her body demanded good food, good sleep, and proper care.

Zeph, meanwhile, never stopped moving. He stayed busy in the garden harvesting vegetables, pulling weeds, and rearranging furniture in the living room.

After her nap, the two of them swam back to the office building, climbed ashore, and headed straight for

the rich kids’ car modification club.

The club sat close to downtown.

The real estate heir who built it clearly had more money than sense. The place covered over 30 thousand square feet and was decorated in a bizarre mix of luxury gold and cyberpunk style. Even the glass was

blast-resistant.

They hammered at it with pointed tools for ages without making a dent. In the end, they swam up to the fourth floor and smashed through the bathroom shutters to get inside.

Nicole knew nothing about auto repair, so to save time, they split up.

Zeph went hunting for usable parts, while Nicole went to loot the rich kid’s private territory.

The guy was obsessed with modified cars.

He had zero interest in inheriting the family fortune and spent most of his time hanging around the club with his equally spoiled friends, showing off custom supercars, popping champagne, and throwing one endless party after another.

Nicole moved through the ten-thousand-square-foot suite with practiced ease and pried the door open effortlessly.

One thing rich people around here seemed weirdly obsessed with was designer slides.

The entryway closet alone held well over 100 pairs, including both men’s and women’s styles. A few were even diamond-studded pairs that had once sold for tens of thousands of dollars, now ruined from soaking underwater.

Nicole didn’t mind. She tossed the diamond pairs straight into the storage space.

A moment later, she checked inside with her consciousness and let out a smug little laugh.

Just like she thought. The storage space had stripped every diamond right off them.

She tossed the ruined slippers back out and continued searching the suite.

Anything like paintings was a lost cause. If they existed, the water had destroyed them already.

The antique display shelves still held stone carvings, decorative vases, and random collectibles. Nicole couldn’t tell what was authentic, so she simply dumped everything into the storage space and let it

decide.

She found two safes in the study and tossed those in, too.

The bedroom nightstand held a ridiculous amount of condoms and other supplies. The packaging was sealed, though she had no idea whether they were still usable.

Might as well take them. If they survived, she could always sell them to Weasel later.

Then, she found a jewelry box. Inside sat a pink diamond bracelet.

Nicole glanced down at the logo on the box. This thing easily started in the seven-figure range.

She clicked her tongue. Honestly, rich people were impossible to understand.

The guy wore cheap slippers himself, but bought his girlfriend a pink diamond bracelet worth millions.

Must have been real love.

Nicole wanted to wear it herself, but the storage space would never allow that. The second anything valuable went inside, it swallowed it whole. You could probably hide a diamond in your mouth, and it would still pry it out, unless it was fake.

She tossed the bracelet into storage, and it was gone instantly.

She searched the entire residence thoroughly. There were plenty of valuable things, but most had already been ruined by water.

Once she finished, she checked the storage space again. The black soil garden had expanded by about 3,200 square feet, adding roughly 95,000 cubic feet in total volume.

Nicole silently thanked the rich heir for his generous contribution.

When she returned downstairs, Zeph had already gathered everything he wanted.

Most of the tires had cracked during the freeze, but he still managed to salvage over 20 good ones.

That was thanks to the rich kids’ obsession with their cars. They spent money like maniacs and demanded the absolute best, insisting on puncture-resistant, explosion-proof, ultra-durable tires built to withstand extreme temperatures.

Even though winters in Westbridge were usually warm enough for short sleeves, they still insisted on extremely low-temperature tires simply because they could.

As it turned out, the quality really was impressive. The tires had survived -98 degrees.

Zeph also gathered plenty of spare parts and repair tools, though it was a shame about the engines soaking underwater, along with the other critical components. There were more than a dozen top-tier supercars, too, including several modified into combat vehicles.

They also found over a dozen fuel drums holding around 150 gallons of gasoline altogether.

Nicole was about to leave after collecting everything when Zeph pointed into the distance. She swept the

spotlight over the area and spotted two giant shipping containers.

Nicole swam closer and confirmed they really were containers. Waterproof sealing strips lined the doors.

Protected this carefully, they probably hadn’t flooded inside. Containers this large either held recently imported overseas goods or valuable vehicles belonging to the club.

Nicole’s curiosity instantly kicked in. Grinding through the mental strain, she forced both containers into the storage space. The effort immediately made her dizzy and nauseous.

She followed the containers inside to rest.

Zeph handed her an energy drink. Only after she recovered did he glance toward the garden and realize the storage space had expanded again.

She really did have talent for this kind of thing.

After catching their breath, the two of them struggled for a while before finally prying open the sealed

containers.

Inside sat three absurdly expensive off-road beasts.
