Chapter 303
These two were supposedly priceless treasures. Whether they were real or not was another question entirely.
Weasel sounded completely sure of himself. “These were the boss’s favorite pieces. When he first got them, he was so excited that he didn’t sleep for three straight days.”
Back then, Sven had gone to bed every night, dreaming that the disasters would end someday, and he would wake up a billionaire.
But the longer the world stayed broken, the faster those dreams fell apart.
Real or fake, they were still meant as repayment for saving his life, and Nicole had no reason to turn them down. “Thanks.”
Weasel dug another item out of his backpack. It was a gold bar wrapped in newspaper, about two pounds heavy. “This, too. My boss said it’s yours.”
Nicole frowned. “Mine?”
“The thugs you met yesterday used it to buy water. Nobody expected them to try and rob us after the
deal.”
Since Nicole had killed them, the gold rightfully belonged to her.
Nicole stared at him. “You guys charge that much for water?”
That instantly annoyed Weasel.
“You really have no idea what things are like for normal people anymore. Do you know how hard it is to get a whole tanker of clean water together? The boss had to call in favors everywhere, grease palms, trade supplies, the whole deal. We spent days putting that shipment together, hoping to make a little profit, and those bastards tried to jack everything for free.”
Only then did Nicole learn the full story.
The group had been regular customers for a long time, so nobody suspected they were setting them up until the deal went bad and nearly got everyone killed.
Sven had shown real sincerity, so Nicole accepted everything without hesitation. Still, she wanted more than a one-time favor. She wanted a long-term trade arrangement.
A favor was a favor. Business was business.
Weasel immediately switched into full professional mode.
“Antiques, old paintings, gold, silver, jewelry, collectibles, we can trade for all of it. The question is, what are you offering?”
“What do you want?” she asked.

There it was again. That calm, loaded tone of hers.
Weasel was already used to it by now. “Food and water, obviously. Gas, too, if you’ve got it.”
Food took time to grow, and gasoline was practically liquid gold, but water was the one thing Nicole could get with almost no effort at all.
She rubbed the bridge of her nose and answered casually, “I know people. I can get water.”
Weasel’s eyes practically lit up. “How much water?”
Seriously? If he had known that earlier, they never would’ve wasted time hauling seawater around for pocket change!
Nicole glanced toward the water tanker, and Weasel instantly got the message.
That was more like it. Nicole really could do anything.
“Great. I’ll head back and talk to the boss right now. We’ll give you an answer tomorrow.”
Nicole nodded. That worked perfectly for her as well, since she still needed time to verify whether the antiques were authentic.
So, she carried half a bucket of seawater home.
After locking the door, she snapped a few pictures of the treasures with her phone, admired them for a moment, then tossed everything into the storage space.
Rare treasures weren’t supposed to be easy to find, so Nicole honestly hadn’t expected much. To her surprise, the storage space actually absorbed them.
She immediately checked inside. The black soil garden hadn’t changed at all, but the third floor now had
two extra rooms.
Nicole just stood there, speechless.
Those two legendary collectibles only counted for this much?
Talk about overpriced hype!
It looked like the storage space didn’t care about reputation or market value. It only measured an object’s
true original worth.
After she tossed in the two-pound gold bar, the tiny half-finished bathroom on the third floor expanded by maybe another 20 square feet.
Nicole stared silently at it.
