The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 306

Chapter 306

The extra rooms stopped there.

Apparently, the storage space topped out at a three-and-a-half-story villa. Thankfully, the black soil garden was still expanding.

That night, Weasel finally showed up again. “Think you can do two tankers in a few days?”

Nicole frowned. “That much?”

“Some rich kid’s throwing himself a birthday party. Wants a pool party.”

Nicole went silent for a second before finally saying, “I’ll figure something out. Shouldn’t be a problem.”

Weasel pushed his luck even further. “What about ice?”

Nicole gave him a look. “That’s a lot harder.”

“Tell me about it. But the guy’s loaded. Not only does he want a pool party, but he’s also planning one of those fancy ice buffet setups.”

The client was spending money like it was nothing, and Sven badly wanted the connection. The profit was one thing, but opening doors to people like that mattered even more.

The payment wasn’t low, either. Just for one truckload of ice, the guy was offering a flawless raw emerald worth a fortune.

Sven had already said that if Nicole could pull it off, the stone was hers.

A raw emerald?

Nicole was tempted.

She had stockpiled plenty of ice inside the storage space, enough to last several years. Even if she ran short, they still had ice makers.

She glanced at Zeph, silently asking if they should do this.

After all these trades, the black soil garden had expanded by roughly another ten thousand square feet, but Sven had already warned them that his antique inventory was almost gone.

Future deals would probably switch to gold instead.

The two of them had already compared the returns.

Compared to what paintings and antiques could do, a full tanker of water traded for two pounds of gold barely expanded the storage space at all.

Nicole had already been planning to finish taking the rest of Sven’s collectibles before heading for the coast at Grayport.

Maybe this emerald was worth trying first.

Nicole deliberately held back instead of agreeing immediately. “Let me ask around first. I’ll give you an

answer tomorrow.”

Weasel looked thrilled and hurried off to report back to Sven.

After returning home, Nicole and Zeph talked it over and decided this would be their last deal for a while.

Both sides had been careful, but they had still been targeted several times already.

Every trip turned into a long game of doubling back through side streets, using darkness and the storage space to shake anyone following them.

One time, people even tried the classic fake traffic accident trick.

Zeph never even touched the brakes. He drove straight through.

After hiding the tanker, the two of them circled back to investigate and discovered a seasoned crew of vehicle hijackers waiting nearby. There were ten of them, all armed.

Fortunately, Nicole and Zeph had enough combat experience to stay alert at all times, so the group never

found an opening.

Still, no matter how careful you were, pushing your luck forever was a bad idea. Knowing when to quit while you were ahead mattered more.

With two tankers to fill, neither of them slept that night. They barely managed to finish filling both trucks before it was time for the exchange.

Sven showed up personally this time.

He only had 18 paintings and 12 antiques left. The rest of the payment came in jewelry instead.

Paintings and antiques had been losing value fast lately. Thanks to Nicole, Sven had finally managed to clear out almost all the stock he had been sitting on.

“Gold’s holding value better these days,” he said. “Maybe we should switch future trades over to gold?”

Nicole politely shook her head. “Sorry. We’re putting our business on pause for a while. We’re planning a trip to Grayport.”
