Chapter 324
Sven didn’t bother dressing it up.
“Along with the Ocean Star necklace from last time, Jake can add a piece of raw emerald. I can guarantee it’s better than the one you got before.”
Medicine saved lives, but these drugs weren’t as valuable as the vaccine. If Sven really put in the work, he could probably find them himself. This was mostly Jake giving Nicole a favor while making sure Fred had what he needed.
Nicole understood that, but the amount on the list was still too high.
She took out a pen and lowered the quantities. “This is the most I can get.”
Who knew how long they would live? If she and Zeph somehow survived another few decades, only to get gout from eating seafood every day, having no medicine for it would be its own kind of suffering.
After working with Nicole for so long, Sven had expected her to bargain. He had left himself room from
the start.
He didn’t waste time haggling and agreed readily.
The next day, Nicole and Zeph brought the medicine to complete the trade.
The 3,000 pounds of dried goods had already been loaded onto the luxury yacht. The Tomlinsons had even arranged for someone to teach them how to operate it.
Zeph declined politely. “No need. I know how.”
Nicole looked at him in surprise.
Was there anything this man couldn’t do?
During the handover, the staff member looked like someone had carved a piece out of him.
“This is a Riva. The Rolls-Royce of yachts. The boss paid more than 16 million for it and never got to take it out once before everything fell apart.”
He kept muttering under his breath, as if someone had taken his own child.
Nicole had to admit, the yacht was beautiful in a way that felt almost unreasonable.
The lines, the finish, the performance, the craftsmanship, every detail screamed money and taste. The
interior was just as extravagant, polished enough to belong in a magazine spread.
It was a two-deck luxury yacht, the kind celebrities, billionaires, and old-money families fought over before the world ended.
Now, it belonged to Nicole.

Sven hurried over with the raw emerald. It was larger than the last piece, still cloudy and uneven on the outside, but deep green showed through wherever the light hit. One glance was enough to tell it was the kind of stone collectors chased.
If the disasters hadn’t overturned the value of everything and reduced jewels to pretty rocks, Nicole would never have had a chance to touch something like this.
Even now, it still held some value. In a few more years, it might not buy a slice of bread.
Otherwise, why would the Tomlinsons use it to trade for medicine? People like them didn’t make losing
deals.
Nicole handed over the prepared medicine. After both sides checked everything and confirmed there were no problems, the trade was done.
Sven looked at the yacht with open envy. If he hadn’t had urgent business to handle, he clearly would have loved to take it out for a ride.
Zeph stepped into the cockpit, checked the controls, tested the systems, and confirmed everything was working. Then, he started the engine.
The yacht cut across the harbor like an arrow, dragging a white wake behind it.
The sunset deepened from pale gold to a burning red, as if half the sky had been washed in blood. Out on the open water, the yacht slowed, small against the wide, restless sea.
