The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 341

Chapter 341

Zeph kept his voice even. “Don’t force it. Try pulling something else.”

Right. Stay calm, don’t panic.

Nicole took a breath and reached deeper into her storage space.

This time, her hand closed around something. A handful of condoms.

She froze.

Out of everything, why this?

She had a whole fistful of them. Dozens, at least.

Startled, she shoved them straight back into storage.

Too late.

Zeph had seen everything. For a split second, the composure on his face cracked.

Nicole’s mind went blank as she reached out instinctively. “Wait, don’t get the wrong idea. I can explain.”

Explain what? Why she had so many? She hadn’t even bought them. She had picked them up while scavenging.

Of all the things she could’ve pulled out, why that?!

Embarrassment hit so hard that Nicole wished the ground would swallow her. Anything she said now would only make it worse.

Zeph had seen enough in life. He recovered fast. “I didn’t think anything of it.”

Nicole covered her face. Honestly, it would’ve been better if he had just pretended he didn’t see it.

He went on, “Try again.”

Right. Try again.

She did, but the stupid car still didn’t come out.

Nicole switched tactics and pulled out a handful of bullets instead.

Great. Was the car now some rare treasure, so the storage space had just absorbed it?

Zeph thought for a moment. “Maybe it never got stored. The tsunami could’ve taken it.”

That didn’t sound right. Nicole was sure she had put everything away.

Then, it clicked.

Back then, Zeph had driven the car up the mountain. She had jumped out and run into the villa and up to the roof, while he went to deal with the power.

There hadn’t been time to move the wreck into the yard. It must’ve been swept away.

So that was it! A mix-up.

And she had just embarrassed herself over a handful of condoms because of him.

Nicole’s mood turned sour, and she took it out on Zeph.

The situation had been chaotic, and he had forgotten, too. So he let her hit him without protest.

Of course, he couldn’t leave it there.

“Whatever you’re thinking about is the one that comes out, isn’t it?”

Nicole, who was very tempted to kick him into the ocean, shot daggers at him.

She rubbed her nose. “I found them while scavenging. Figured I could trade them, so I kept them.”/

They were more useful than they looked. She had already traded some for a cow and a sheep.

Zeph nodded. “Good call. Keep them.”

They would need them in the future.

Now, she really wanted to hit him again.

The car was gone, but they still needed transportation. Traveling with Poppy and Cola on foot wasn’t safe.

Nicole pulled out the Hummer.
