The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 501

Chapter 501

Peter continued, “If another conflict breaks out, what’s to stop the people from Villa 50 from killing someone next time?

“They’re a serious threat to everyone’s safety, and we can’t let this kind of behavior go unpunished. I recommend turning the matter over to the police and pressing charges. Allowing them to remain in the neighborhood is top dangerous.”

Eric frowned. “Is there no better way to resolve this?”

He had started with nothing and spent decades building himself into one of the most influential figures in the business world.

He had learned long ago that making enemies was bad for business unless there was no other choice. Besides, the HOA had started this mess and disgraced itself with such petty behavior.

Had the disasters stripped everyone of their common sense?

Eric was a self-made businessman who had begun his career selling appliances door to door. In those early years, countless people had dismissed him, turned him away, and treated him like he was beneath them. He knew exactly what it felt like to have his pride ground into the dirt.

Unless he had no other choice, he had no intention of backing those people into a corner.

“If we back down now,” Peter said with a frown, “what will the rest of the neighborhood think? If we don’t make an example of them, everyone will assume they can walk all over the Robinsons.”

“Peter, you must be losing your touch.”

A lazy voice drifted down from upstairs, followed by the soft shuffle of slippers.

Marcus came down in a robe and slides, yawning.

“You think you’re protecting this family? You’re about to get us all killed.”

The sight of his disheveled, carefree son immediately irritated Eric. The boy was still an irresponsible playboy.

Marcus dropped onto the couch beside Eric and casually slung an arm over his father’s shoulders. “Dad, you weren’t there. Those three went through everyone like they were nothing. Taking down those guards was like tearing through wet paper.

“I walked past Villa 50 this afternoon. The people living there are dangerous. They’re probably harder to deal with than career criminals, and there’s no way they’re ordinary.”

Eric frowned. “Are they really that capable?”

“I asked around. They were among the first people to start renovating. Their perimeter wall is built like a fortress, they have multiple reinforced gates, and the entire rooftop has been enclosed in glass.

“This whole mess was started by a group of bored rich women with nothing better to do. It’s been three years since the apocalypse began, and they still think they’re above everyone else. They kept shutting those people out and pushing them around, and because no one fought back, they assumed they could keep getting away with it.

“The people from Villa 50 weren’t even looking for a fight. The guards were the ones who kept insulting them and deliberately refusing to let them through. If I could fight like them, I wouldn’t have stopped after beating up a few guards. I would’ve taken out the whole neighborhood.”

“Shut up!” Eric smacked him across the back of the head and looked him over with disgust. “Just look at yourself ”

Marcus sat sprawled across the couch in a robe, his hairy legs exposed and one ankle propped over his knee. Eric could barely resist the urge to hit him again.

Marcus didn’t bother uncrossing his legs. “It’s the apocalypse. You still care how I sit?”

He waved Peter off, then sank deeper into the cushions.

“Trust me on this. The man from Villa 50 is better than any of the special forces soldiers at the base. He dislocated arms and legs like it was nothing.

“The woman was even more ruthless. Every punch landed exactly where she meant it to. She seriously injured them without killing anyone. Most people don’t have that kind of control.
