The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Nicole rolled up her sleeves and got to work, tearing everything apart.

Önce something came loose, she tossed it straight into the storage space. Matching tables, chairs, stools, and vanities… She didn’t leave a single piece behind.

There were plenty of other antique pieces, too. Tables, heavy armchairs, chaise lounges, and a bunch of stuff she couldn’t even name.

Honestly, smashing the display cases made her palms sweat, even with layers of cloth wrapped around her face.

If this were normal times, she would probably end up locked away for life.

But this was the end of the world. Rules didn’t mean much anymore.

She kept going, knocking and prying, not even sparing wooden rods or scrap pieces. By the time she stopped, she was drenched in sweat, her head spinning.

Nicole found a spot to sit, tore open a chocolate bar for energy, then cracked open a can of Red Bull. After catching her breath, she switched off the flashlight and slipped into the storage space.

Broken, worn furniture was scattered around, but most of it had already vanished.

Suddenly, she froze.

The living room looked about 300 square feet bigger than before. A spiral staircase had appeared, too, leading upward toward what had to be a second floor.

The kitchen, bathrooms, and rooms had expanded. The master bedroom even had a walk-in closet now.

Nicole counted again.

There was one more bedroom and a study. She now had four bedrooms, two living areas, three bathrooms, plus a study. The spiral staircase stopped at the ceiling, though. It looked like there was still room to grow.

And then, there was the garden. Last time, the dark soil patch had been barely 200 square feet. Now… It had to be over 3,000 square feet!

Nicole had been right.

Old wood with age and character really worked. Ebony, rosewood, whatever magic they carried, it all fed the

storage space.

As for the pieces that the space didn’t accept, she kept them anyway. When the deep freeze came, they would make good firewood.

This trip had been more than worth it. With a rough estimate, she had gained another 4,300 square feet and 42,000 cubic feet of storage.

Back outside, Nicole headed down another level.

The next two floors were packed with vintage-style furniture. There was way too much to take, so she went with instinct, grabbing whatever looked the most expensive and tossing it into storage.

Everything was piled into the garden, stacked layer by layer.

If the storage space could absorb it, great. If not, she would trade it later.

With an extra 42 thousand cubic feet, Nicole finally felt some breathing room. As long as she didn’t hoard herself into trouble, she would keep stocking up.

The eighth floor had a service hall, a screening room, and more than a dozen restaurants. There were cafés, bakeries, and a convenience store as well, probably meant for visitors and event guests to relax.

All the fresh meat and produce had spoiled, but the restaurants had stocked up ahead of the exhibition.

There were over ten thousand pounds of rice, flour, and grains, more than three hundred barrels of cooking oil and in different kinds too, and tons of seasonings, alcohol, and drinks.

In one upscale restaurant, she even found 20 unopened tins of top-grade caviar and 30 bottles of expensive wine, all still within date.

The refrigerators storing premium ingredients had backup power built in. Three massive units were packed with steaks, lamb chops, foie gras, blue lobster, and Parmesan cheese.

Nicole didn’t hesitate. She took the fridges along with everything inside.

At the convenience store and bakery, she grabbed anything that wasn’t expired or moldy.
