The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 545

Chapter 545

Nicole told Hughie and Jeremy everything, including how the wealthy residents had shut her out and made trouble for her.

Hughie was speechless. “It’s been three years since the apocalypse started. Bandits target rich people first, and God knows how many people die every day. Yet these people still act like they’re above everyone else.

Jeremy sneered. “People like that had better stay behind their gates. Sooner or later, they’re gonna mess with the

wrong person.

Full and pleasantly buzzed, Nicole almost wished she had a cigarette to go with the moment.

“I taught them a few lessons. They’ve been much better behaved since then.”

There was still plenty of beer left, so the three of them kept drinking and swapping stories about everything they had been through.

After a while, Jeremy suddenly leaned closer. “Nicole, can you help me get some medicine?”

“What kind?”

Most things were manageable, but medicine was getting harder and harder to find.

“Well… Something for bedroom issues.”

Nicole gave him a sidelong glance, then quickly understood and looked at him with sympathy. “I don’t have anything for that. Try exercising more.”

Jeremy nearly choked. What was that supposed to mean?

Hughie cut in before he could explain. “He means birth control.”

Oh. He could’ve just said that instead of dancing around the subject and making her think he needed something else.

“You’ve got to help him out,” Hughie said. “He and Diana had barely gotten together when Beatrice miscarried and never fully recovered. Watching what she went through scared him.”

Sex was a normal part of any relationship, but without protection, it was easy to end up with an unplanned

pregnancy.

Hughie and Beatrice had been together for years, but Jeremy and Diana’s relationship was still new. Jeremy was inexperienced but eager, and being forced to hold back was driving him crazy.

Hughie wasn’t much better off. Ever since Beatrice’s miscarriage, the two of them hadn’t been intimate either.

The two men looked as though they had been sentenced to celibacy.

Nicole had no such problem, and it showed. One look at her was enough to tell.

The pair really were united in misery. Nicole knew she shouldn’t laugh, but she couldn’t help it.

Both men looked thoroughly aggrieved. It was easy for someone who wasn’t going without to laugh at the ones who were.

“That’s it?” Nicole said after finally composing herself. “I thought it was something serious. Fine. I’ll take care of it.”

She might not have much of everything else, but thanks to Felix’s generous contribution, birth control was one thing she had plenty of.

The two men’s eyes lit up.

Hughie quickly added, “I need some, too.”

There was no helping it. They were healthy adults, and Beatrice was almost fully recovered.

After they finished eating and talking, Hughie went to pay, only for the cashier to tell him the bill had already been taken care of.

Jasper, it seemed, really did practice what he preached.

Nicole was surprised, but after remembering what Zeph told her, it didn’t seem so strange.

They said goodbye, and Nicole started riding home. She hadn’t gone far when the radio in her bag suddenly” crackled.

“Nicole, are you still with Jeremy and Hughie?” Beatrice sounded frantic. “Diana and I are hurt. We’re on Patriot Road on the west side. Tell them to get here fast.”

“I’m still with them. What happened?”

“Bandits attacked us with knives.”
