The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 546

Chapter 546

The new district wasn’t large, and the west side was less than three miles away. Nicole pedaled as fast as she could and made it there in under twenty minutes.

The area was deserted. There were no signs of a struggle, only a sedan that still appeared to be in decent shape

The two women were inside. Diana had been shot in the arm, and the bullet was still lodged inside. Her face was pale from blood loss.

Beatrice had tied a makeshift tourniquet around Diana’s arm to slow the bleeding. She had several injuries of her own, and her clothes were soaked with blood, but none of her wounds appeared immediately life-threatening.

Five men’s bodies were crammed into the back seat.

The two sides had clearly fought a brutal battle. Beatrice and Diana won, then managed to drive away from the

scene.

The priority was getting the bullet out and stopping Diana’s bleeding. Otherwise, she might not make it.

She had already lost too much blood. Driving her all the way back to the villa before treating her would be too dangerous.

Nicole took off her backpack. “I have some emergency medical supplies with me, but not much.”

Using the backpack as cover, Nicole pulled out basic surgical instruments, disinfectant, cotton pads, and sutures.

Beatrice had been slashed with a knife, but she had already treated the wounds enough to stop the bleeding. “I’m alright. Save Diana.”

Security patrol work was dangerous, so they always carried basic first-aid supplies. They simply didn’t expect anything this serious, and they already used up all their gauze and bandages.

They moved the car to an even more secluded spot. Beatrice stood guard outside while Nicole operated on Diana inside.

Diana was lucky; the bullet didn’t hit anything vital. Nicole cleaned the wound, administered a local anesthetic, and carefully removed the bullet with her surgical instruments.

Jeremy and Hughie ran until their lungs burned.

When Jeremy learned that Diana had been shot and was unconscious, all the color drained from his face. He waited anxiously outside the car.

“What happened?” he asked.

Beatrice still hadn’t fully recovered, so she and Diana were assigned to the same patrol team to watch each other’s backs. During their patrol, they came across one group of criminals robbing another, and a gunfight broke out.

Whether they ran with a crew or worked alone, the rules of the apocalypse were simple. The strong took from the weak.

When Diana saw how many supplies the criminals had, she decided they should steal the haul and make a big

score.

Fortune favored the bold, and poverty was terrifying in its own way. The four of them took dangerous patrol jobs because they wanted to get rich fast. Now that an opportunity had fallen into their laps, there was no reason to

pass it up.

The two women agreed without hesitation. They didn’t expect the men to be carrying a gun or to pull it only when they were cornered.

Fortunately, Beatrice and Diana were both skilled fighters. They risked everything and came out on top.

Jeremy waited half an hour before the car door finally opened.

He rushed over to Nicole. “How’s Diana?”

“I got the bullet out, but she lost a lot of blood. Whether she pulls through depends on her.”

If there had still been a functioning hospital, they could’ve given her a transfusion. Now, all they could do was wait and hope.

Jeremy went rigid as he stared at Diana, his face filled with worry.

Nicole didn’t have time to comfort him. She still needed to treat Beatrice’s wounds.

Anesthetic was precious and far beyond what most people could afford.

Beatrice gritted her teeth. “My wounds aren’t serious. Just clean them and stitch them up.

Nicole examined the cuts and did exactly that, sewing them closed without anesthesia.

Her supply was limited, and Zeph didn’t have much either. They could face far worse injuries in the future.
