Chapter 59
415 Bahus
Chapter 59
The moment Nicole stepped into the building, someone spotted the dog.
Hunger hit fast. People started talking about killing it for meat.
Cola’s fur bristled. He bared his teeth, dropping into a full attack stance, eyes sharp with killing intent.
Nicole drew her knife.
“Anyone who wants to eat my dog, step forward.”
The hallway went quiet for a second.
Since when had she kept a dog?
They cursed under their breath. Damn it! They barely had food themselves, and she was raising a dog? She was actually feeding a dog instead of people?
The anger spread quickly.
“That’s not hers. It’s a stray,” someone said, recognizing Cola. “I’ve seen it hanging around across the street.”
“Yeah! I’ve seen it, too. Almost bit my kid once.”
“Kill it! Split the meat!”
Nicole swung her knife and smashed the hallway trash can in half. “If you want meat, you have to get through me.

The crowd remembered how she had chopped people down like slicing fruit. A few of them instinctively stepped
back.
Still, one man wasn’t ready to let it go. “Look, it’s not your dog. You can’t just claim it like that.”
“He’s with me. That makes him mine,” Nicole snapped back.
“Everyone’s struggling. How about this? We butcher it, give you half, and we’ll split the rest.”
The others nodded quickly. “Yeah! You’ll get the biggest share. We’ll just take what’s left.”
Nicole let out a cold laugh.
“I don’t eat dog meat.” Her knife flashed toward the man who suggested it. “Yours might taste better.”
“Aaaah!” He stumbled back, tripped, and hit the ground hard. A dark stain spread through his pants.
Damn! She really would kill someone.
The blade hadn’t hit anything vital, but his arm was cut open, blood pouring out.
That was enough. No one said another word about eating the dog. They just watched in silence as Nicole took Cola upstairs.
She had barely dealt with them when Edward came charging straight into it.
“Nicole, what the hell is wrong with you?” he shouted, storming out. “Are you happy now? Ken’s dead!”
A few others stood behind him in the doorway, watching coldly, not stopping him at all.

Before Nicole could respond, Cola lunged and clamped onto Edward’s leg.
Edward screamed, loud and raw. He swung his stick down toward Cola’s head. Cola darted away, light on his feet, eyes burning with aggression.
This was the monster who said he was filthy, crawling with fleas. The one who got him thrown into the illegal slaughterhouse as well as the reason Nicole stopped feeding him, and eventually forgot about him.
Dogs remembered.
Cola lunged again.
Edward panicked, flailing his stick wildly.
Nicole stepped in, her blade forcing him back.
“Are you hitting me over a dog?” Edward’s face twisted, anger and humiliation mixing together. “Have you lost your mind? It’s just a dog!”
