If the dogs actually mauled him to death, she wasn’t taking responsibility for it.

Nicole was genuinely angry and punished both dogs by making them skip dinner.

Her Cola was such a good boy. Dumbo was obviously the bad influence here.

“I can’t. He’s got four legs. If he wants to go somewhere, how am I supposed to stop him?”

“Come get him. I’ll owe you a meal.”

“Barbecue?”

Marcus showed up in a Land Rover, then leaned against the hood with his hands in his pockets like he was posing for a magazine and whistled at the mastiff.

Dumbo clearly didn’t want to leave, but he still obediently climbed into the car.

Nicole casually asked, “Jason’s arm healed yet?”

“Nope. Broke it again.”

Nicole rubbed her forehead. “Did they ever find Valerie?”

Marcus gave her a sideways look. “You’ve already got Zeph. Should you really be this interested in another guy?”

This was coming from the guy who used to party nonstop and blow money on multiple women in one night. And now he was lecturing her?
