Chapter 651
Whether the virus had actually disappeared or everyone had simply developed immunity, it finally felt like they had made it through another disaster.
With the virus gone and their bodies gradually recovering, Nicole and the rest started working out again. Some evenings, they even went out for walks.
One night, as they walked through the neighborhood, an angry woman suddenly started screaming inside one of the villas, followed by the sounds of a fight.
A moment later, a man came rushing out in a panic.
If Zeph hadn’t reacted quickly, he would’ve run straight into them.
The instant Zeph realized what was happening, he covered Nicole’s eyes.
A completely naked man stumbled out of the villa with a pair of red boxer briefs clutched in one hand, then quickly disappeared into the smog.
The second Cola saw those bare legs running away, he perked up. He was just about to chase after the man when Zeph snapped, “Cola!”
Poppy was too short and standing too far away for Zeph to cover her eyes in time.
She stared after the man, wide-eyed and speechless.
Zeph had no idea how he was supposed to explain what she had just seen. At that moment, he really wanted to kill someone.
The fight inside the villa was still going, and the woman’s insults got nastier by the second. She screamed that the mother and daughter had no shame, selling themselves just to get food.
Nicole quickly pulled Poppy away.
There were already plenty of situations like this, and there would probably only be more as time went on.
Maybe it was immoral, but morality didn’t mean much in an apocalypse. When people were desperate to survive and needed something to eat, pride and dignity became luxuries.
Their bodies were no different.
Some of those women might once have been wealthy wives or socialites who lived in luxury before the disasters. But once the person supporting the family was gone, that was when the real hardship began.
And it wasn’t just women.
Not every wealthy wife or socialite had spent her life sheltered and dependent on someone else. Some adapted early, while others had built their lives through their own efforts from the start. Even after the disasters wiped out everything they had, they found ways to build themselves back up.
Meanwhile, some good-looking older men and former rich kids chose to trade their bodies instead.
